The Wooded Compliment drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 3, 2023 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Multiple layout options.
The mature woodland hosts both a red and blue layout.
The greens are a short parkland layout suited to families and beginners.
Spring flowers put on a fantastic display early in the season.
The woods force a variety of lines.

Cons:

The install is still ongoing at time of writing and so many tee pads have not yet been established. Also the signage is somewhat lacking. As the club continues to listen to feedback on design, the signage will probably be the last thing in the ground.
The blues play more like whites due to a lack of length.

Other Thoughts:

This course offers a fun compliment to the more open parkland style found at Longford Park, Stretford, which is Manchester Disc Golf's original track.

Hopefully as the local residents further welcome the sport, the club will find options to lengthen a few holes here and there.

Most players still travel from the large community based in Manchester. Looking forward to local players taking on the roll of organising weekly club sessions to build the player base in Leigh.

The month of May is a lovely time to play the course as the bluebells and ransoms are on display. And if you are lucky, some warm sunshine can penetrate the spring canopy. Although beware that the ground can still be rather soft if it has been an especially wet winter.
