Pros:
+Multiple concrete tee pads on each hole (Rec/AM/PRO)
+Signage indicating pin placements, distances, par, and next hole direction.
+Parking area has a practice basket by the tee pads at hole #1 and a big disc golf sign with the course layout and general rules for newer players.
+Course layout circles the back end of the park and ends up back at the starting parking area.
+Good variety of hole difficulty with wide open, wooded/tunnel shots, and elevated pin locations.
+Plenty of signs throughout the course reminding players to clean up after themselves.
+Very scenic course, specifically holes 13-15.
Cons:
-No signage towards the main park entrance indicating where the disc golf course is located. This can be confusing for first-time players to the course.
-Lack of water fountains or bathrooms on the course (plenty of woods, trees, and lake water, however).
-A lot of the holes are by the main roadway to the outdoor gun range, which has a lot of runners, bikers, and cars traveling through at times.
-Some holes could use a pin placement identifier (at least on the Rec/AM signage). For example, hole #13 has two pin locations, but it is difficult to see which location the hole is at from the pad, making disc selection and shot planning more time-consuming.
-Some holes can be difficult to play after a rainstorm passes through. For example, on one of my recent outings, the Rec pad and some of the AM pad on hole #8 were submerged underwater, and this was a few days after the last storm passed through.
Other Thoughts:
Overall, I like playing this course when I can. It's close to my work office (~5 minutes away) and I usually have a good time playing a round in a timely manner. I like the elevated pins on holes #13 and 14 (when in that position) and the amount of par 4 holes to work with.
A few things to note for new players to the course:
• There are a few water holes early in the course and on holes #13-15 that a towel would be helpful to bring to help dry yourself/discs faster.
• Speaking of water, make sure to bring plenty to drink as the course can be quite hot, even in the early mornings/late afternoons.
• Make sure to keep a close eye on the road and throw when you have clearance (on holes 5-6, 12, and 16-18, particularly). I have almost hit a few people on bikes that rapidly came down the road while I was teeing off.
