Nice Houston Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 6, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

All new cement tee's
decent flow to the course
Nice defined fairways
Use of the little elevation

Cons:

Only reason I found my way around was because the course was marked for the Texas States. They need to get T-signs out there.

Other Thoughts:

Nice course, it is not a championship level course, but for me it was enjoyable. They recently did a few changes to the course, specially adding tee pads and a few new holes.

The new pin position for #4 was crazy long and a good par 4.

Thought the old #18 was also fun, but lost my favorite driver in the water :(

Worth the trip 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 12, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

1. Elevation! Compared to many of the courses of southeast Texas, any kind of elevation at all at a disc golf course is amazing! Provides a different kind of challenge.
2. The tee boxes are in great condition. The cement slabs look new.
3. The holes provide a lot of variety. There are some long holes, some short, and it keeps you on your toes from toe to toe; keeps the play exciting.

Cons:

1. The map provided in the files for this course don't exactly match what is currently set-up for the lay-out (for instance, Hole 8 is not on the south side of the basketball courts. It is set up on the north side, going towards the main park building).
2. When you get to the back, there is a TON OF TRASH in the woods and along the riverbank. This is would be a fantastic place to play except for having to look for your discs among all the thrown-away plastic, bottles, old baby-wipes, etc.).

Other Thoughts:

Coming from an hour south of Houston, this was a great course to visit. It would probably be my favorite course if not for all the trash coming off the river on the back 9.

Excellent Houston Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 31, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Hole variety - excellent mix of longs/shorts, rights/lefts, ups/downs, and open/narrow shots. The course makes optimum use of the elevation changes at the park. The park itself did not appear to be heavily trafficked by the greater public thereby giving disc golfers greater freedom to throw. Easy access to the park from the major highways.

Cons:

Some trash around...but honestly that's every park in Houston. The odor from the refineries might bother some but I had the pleasure of growing up in Pasadena so it smells like home cookin' to me. Honestly, the only con would be the lack of a course map to guide the inexperienced.

Other Thoughts:

After 1 round this morning, this has easily become my favorite Houston disc golf course. It reminds me a lot of the north Austin / Round Rock area courses and I highly recommend it.

C'mon back and see us! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 25, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

21 hole layout with more elevation change than any other course in Houston. Pro level course with several 500+ foot holes. Well maintained park mowed every 2 weeks. Many old oak trees and scenic shots off the tee. Recently dug alt pins for more variety. Hole 17 alt plays ~380 downhill to an island green accessible by bridge.

Cons:

There is a Goodyear plant nearby that emits pollution which can be smelled when the wind comes from the SE. The bayou deposits trash along the bank which nobody cleans up.

Other Thoughts:

Those have given this course low ratings need to understand that this course has been entirely designed, built and constructed by a few dedicated golfers, who have donated all the basket money and time to put this together, as manpower and help have been limited the course is a work in progress and does not represent a finished product. It is much easier to log on your computer and write a negative review than it is to come out w some trash bags and help clean up apparently. As someone who has golfed every course in the Houston area I can say that if this is not the best course in the city now it will be soon.

*Update*
Many of the early issues people had with the course have been taken care of. Discers removed upward of 50 bags of trash, still, more floats in from highway litter, bring a bag!
All holes have tee markers; holes 4,13,15,17 (island green!) now have alt pin positions installed. Course map will be installed when all future alt pin/teepad positions are in place. We have a weekly mini on Sunday's at 9:30 am $15 buy in included $10 to payout, $3 to concrete fund (over $1300 raised) $2 ace pot.
When the funds are raised this course will have oversize concrete pads, benches and complete signage.

Nice course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 24, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nicely maintained course with a variety of shots. Not as challenging as some courses, but plenty of long shots and obstacles. 21 holes (3 brand new).

Cons:

The highway is loud.

Other Thoughts:

Still building, ie// no numbers on posts. Still one of the best courses in Houston.

Best course IN HOUSTON 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 2, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

18 holes; rolling terrain; open/tree cover/low ceiling/wooded holes - enough variety of shot selection; the course/park has little traffic early in the mornings

Cons:

this will change but, needs tee signs/markers;( I can go either way on tee pads) ; just not a fan of courses next to deep bayous but thats life

Other Thoughts:

Milby is THE BEST course IN HOUSTON. You have to go to Jenkins(Baytown) or Cornerstone(Lake Jackson) to find a better course in the Houston/surrounding area. Its a welcome site for sure!
