Steamboat Park is solid! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 18, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great Tee Pads
Great signage
Next tee arrows on all the baskets
Great course for beginners but also wouldn't call it "easy". A few ace runs for sure but also some distance and definitely some challenging holes.

Cons:

To me there are no cons but for a Pro or a serious disc golfer, this course will seem pretty easy for you. Which again, isn't a bad thing.

Other Thoughts:

When I first played this over half a year ago, it was messy and confusing. The local disc golf club Sharpshooters of Pierre, SD did a really, really great job this past Spring and Summer raising money and getting all the tee pads and signage in. I know guys personally who go out there and pick up and trim and keep it in tip top shape.

New and Improved 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 20, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Located in town
Free
Not very busy
New Tee Pads
New Signage
Great river side views

Cons:

Sometimes it can be a little busy with the nearby picnic shelters, but usually only an issue on a couple holes.
Older Baskets

Other Thoughts:

This course was renovated this summer to include 18 new signs for each hole that include Hole number, Distance, and par. They have new concrete tee pads. Local club Sharpe Shooters DGC holds weekly doubles during the summer.

Some of the baskets have been damaged due to recent storms, a flood, and old age. Some do have some rusty chains(usually only one or two strands) But they sat completely submerged for 3.5 months. They do lean a little from people hanging on them and the collars the poles sit on stretching out. And during a summer storm, a few baskets had large branches fall on them. The damaged baskets were replaced within a week and the others were fixed, but they still are not in "new" condition.

Course Updated! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 16, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Sharpeshooters Disc Golf Club & City of Pierre have completely renovated this course. 18 new fan-shape cement tee pads, new tee signs and directional signage under each basket.

Cons:

Not a long course at 5,162 feet but plenty of holes requiring good shot making ability. The pictures were taken in mid-November so you will see more tree canopy and vegetation in the summer

Other Thoughts:

If visiting Pierre play Steamboat, then head to Oahe Downstream and play 36 different tee pads. The local YMCA runs a league open to anyone on Wednesday nights during the summer. This course also plays host to the Shark in the Park tourney during Oahe Days in the summer.
