A lot of bad combinations drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 8, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

-A good variety of holes. Some wide open shots, some lakeside, others play along the banks of creek.
-Very unique map at the beginning of the course. Only contains half the course on it though...
-Nice baskets
-Multiple baskets for each tee on some of the holes.
-Hole 9 (or maybe 10?) where you throw from the top of hill down toward a basket by the lake, was a particularly fun hole. Despite the rating for this course overall, this is one of the more fun holes in the Fort Collins area.

Cons:

-Here's where the title of this review comes into play; there are a lot of individual components of this course that aren't too bad on their own, but in concert with other factors makes this an aggravating course quite frequently.
-Water shots at this course were pretty fun. However, one of the baskets is directly adjacent to the lake, but is elevated by two-ish feet, as if they're asking for you to take your disc for a swim.
-The section of the course that plays along the water is also right on the main walkway for other park visitors, which gets quite a bit of foot traffic. So not only are you trying to clear a lake for some of the baskets, but you're also trying to not blast your disc into the back of someone's skull at the same time. It's not an easy line to toe.
-Absolutely terrible signage. No sense whatsoever for where the baskets or tees are for holes 9-17.
-Not only that, but an unintuitive layout for this section of the course too. Often a lot of walking to find where your next tee is, and it's often in completely random places.
-Basket numbers do not always correspond to what hole they are on.
-For a course that doesn't really have any "big" holes, it is A LOT of walking.
-Constant sounds of I-25 in the background aren't exactly the relaxing Colorado disc golf experience one always seeks.

Other Thoughts:

Was really excited to play this course, but definitely felt like it was a letdown. Honestly, could have been a pleasant 9-12 hole course using the area they allocated for holes 1-8 and 18-20. Really thought the first 7 holes were fun, but things get chaotic once you walk under the highway, and really bring down the entire course in my opinion.
