Loved it from the 1st throw 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 31, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a great course. Now, I have been playing golf since 1989, and have just started playing disc golf. So- based on a regular course - this course has many pros, but very few cons. First of all, this course was the 1st course I ever played as a beginner. I found it to be very challenging, extremely fun, and very well maintained. The grass was well cut, the tees well maintained, the OB cleared quite well for retrieval, and the water and terrain beautiful.

Cons:

It was very difficult to find my way around the course. There are very few signs aiming you to the direction of the next hole. I wandered around aimlessly searching for hole 16. Note: It is located behind the baseball field, not where you would intend b/c it does not flow in the direction you are heading on 15, but could be easily found if a sign was simply placed there.

Other Thoughts:

This course would be perfect if it had signs directing you to the next hole. It would also be nice if there was a course layout and score cards available.

Good course but can be better 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 27, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course will test most shots in your bag. There are some great short, tight holes and some that require all out power. Most holes are picturesque and well maintained. For the most part the course design and the flow of the course is good. The tee pads are also very nice.

Cons:

There are a just few little things about this course that I don't like. The first and foremost is that there are no tee signs and no course maps. A few of the holes can be hard to find because of it. The first time I played there I was wandering around looking for holes in some places.

There are a few holes that I don't like. It's not that they don't test your skills but they're just not as good as the rest of the course. The long hole #3 is one of them. I think it's positioning along the road and next to the fenced in ball field is poor. Unfortunately is seems like it's required to aid with transition to the other holes. Errant drives can end up in the ball field on one side or they can interfere with players on hole 5. There are also a couple other holes on the back 9 that run close too or cross roads that are used in the park. The roads are used occasionally and these "cons" are nit picky but they deserve to be mentioned because they are a safety factor.

Other Thoughts:

This is definitely a nice course. It's very challanging and very fun. There are just a few things about the layout of the course that I don't like because I feel there's the possibility of injury. I'll definitely come back here though. Also... if they ever put good tee signs out here I'll bump up my ranking for this course.

A comment regarding my evaluation of courses. I am not trying to insult or hurt any ones feelings when I review a course. I'm just trying to evaluate the course on what I feel are important characteristics of a good course. Disc golf has become a large enough sport that I feel we should strive for better than we have now. Just putting 18 holes in a park isn't enough. 18 pole holes does not make a disc golf course. It requires tee's, signs, maps, solid course design and constant maintenance. Any less than that and we will never advance the sport to a reputable level.

Course with great potential 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 14, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

This course has the potential of developing into an excellent course over the next couple of years. There is a great mix of open and woods holes and plenty of distance variety. Holes range from 230ft to over 600ft with a large number coming in between 350 -450 ft. The course was very well maintained.

Cons:

There were no tee signs and the course was marked very poorly in general. It was hard to find my way around (I played it for the first time today).

Other Thoughts:

This is a course well worth playing. It has the potential to grow and become even better though. Simply marking the course and installing tee signs with distances would make all the difference in the world. Overall however, I really enjoyed my round and certainly recommend the course.
