My version of the Grip Eq bag

As of today, not on sale anymore. Son of a. The day I went to go buy one..
Perhaps, they went off sale, then back on... but I just checked Cabela's online and it's $49.99 as of this post.

My bag will be here Friday.

One question about the frame. Will I have to cut the PVC pipe down or will Lowes so it for me?

I don't think Lowe's will cut it for you, but I suppose they might if things are slow.

I cut it myself with a hacksaw - it cuts pretty easy. If you don't have one, you gotta know someone who can lend you one for a day.

I recommend doing it yourself, because the dimensions provided by Lt Dan aren't exactly the length you need to cut the pieces to. If I recall, I started out with those lengths, and ended up taking off about another 1/2" or so (from each piece) to allow for the length of the corners/connectors.

I'd have provided the exact dimensions myself, but unzipping (and subsequently rezippng) the divider between the upper and lower compartments is something I prefer not to deal with repeatedly - it's a bit of a hassle, and the frame doesn't really fit in through the front.

Cabela's XPG® Pro Series™ Angler Pack

On sale again for $49.99
Anybody know of a free shipping code?

I still prefer this configuration 'ala MrGlass'. The bottom exit for discs is just too much of a hassle for me. Plus, when you have less discs in the bottom they fall all over the place.

And it's already back to being out of stock. Called my two local stores and they said they're selling every shipment of them that they get rather quickly.

When I ordered mine they were offering free shipping on orders over $60. It's pretty easy to spend another $10 at cabela's. I used it as an excuse to buy a pair of $12 socks:eek:, no way I'd normally by a $12 pair of socks but it was a nice trade for a $15 in shipping charge.

It's back to sold out again online. I spoke with a Cabelas service rep online and he told me that this item "will not be restocked". He said it may come back as a new product when the new fishing catalog comes out later this month, but it may be different and will be under a new product number. Hmmm.

I tried out this configuration and really liked getting the discs from the top rather than the bottom-front. I still wanted to have some storage space, so I made this--

So the discs are now sitting a bit higher. Since I hacked off the sunglasses holder, the top-front flap can be folded in.

Opening the bottom-front, you can store a few things: couple of water bottles, some extra towels, or even a small insulated lunch bag.

Yes, when you open the bottom, you will see the bottom of the discs. I didn't want the discs to sit too high, so I tried varying heights. This is what I settled on. Plus, the strip between the bottom and top openings help to hold in the discs.

One thing I did notice is that there's a slight bulge from the discs in the middle of the back. Nothing extreme; most of the weight is now there instead of the bottom. Also, I think with this setup you may lose a disc or two of capacity. Not sure. I've got 4 putters (not counting the two in the pocket), 4 mids, 4 fairways, and 4 drivers with room for one more driver.

I have yet to take it on course to give it a real go.

So how many of these things have they sold to disc golfers?

... and as far as I know, Tistoude's yet to receive a commission check or even a gift card. :p

Here's the scoop: Their website says sold out, and the local store in Dundee, Mi is out.

But when I spoke to the guy in Dundee, he said he saw a few in their stores out west (surprise! trout fisherman like 'em too) as well as:

Wichita, KS store shows 6 in stock
Tulalip, WA has a few
and a few in TX.

If you really want one, just click a red location on their store location map to bring up the phone # and whatnot.

good luck!

I finally got my bag and love it. I did a couple little mods that I've bad worked out in my head. It's just so comfortable and a great buy if you don't want to spend the money on a grip. I'd love to post pics but my iPhone isn't very dgcr friendly.

The eugene oregon store had 5 in stock as of Wednesday.

I will be messing around with this bag next weekend.

Is there some type of fabric spray that will make it water resistant?
