I know a course that has no holes over 150'. I am sure I could spend an afternoon out there throwing my putter, and rack up a bunch of aces to brag about but I choose not to do that.
Assuming you're talking about Cedar Brook... #4 is 182'.

But Jessica thinks the same thing: we should go out there and play until we both get our first aces out of the way. 'Cause it seems like when they come, they come in bunches. So why not kick start the streak on a 119' hole!

I have to come to Cubby's defense - everything I've heard from people that have actually met him say he's a great guy, very gracious, and yes a bit obsessive with the video camera, but otherwise just an obsessed disc golfer like the rest of us. The big discussion about Cubby's 300th Ace was on this site in June of last year - http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304 (this is the same one Tim referenced at the beginning of this thread) - and while he's not a contributor or reader of this site (for the most part), he heard about the conversation and posted this reply:

Thanks to all those Disc Golfers out there that have had positive things to say about me or what my blog and YOUTUBE videos do to promote the sport in a positive light.

For those of you that are hung up on my aces or distances of the shots or what ever else bugs you about what I do, I can't help you. My advice to you is just go out and play more Disc Golf and be content and happy with your own game and efforts to promote the sport.

BTW, Hole 9 at Rutgers although it is the shortest hole on the course. The distance is 104 feet not 57 feet like the sign says. And I challenge you to come out and Ace it. Not as easy as it seems and is seldomed Aced.

Warm regards to all. If you are ever in New Jersey get in touch with me and we will throw some rounds together.

Cubby

To me, that's class. I say leave the guy alone about counting his steps and claiming video editing of his videos. He does his thing and actually does a service to the sport by promoting it through his videos. Just my 2 cents.

I was talking about Cedar Brook. I didn't realize they had a hole that long out there. I didn't think any were over 150' . I've only been out there a couple of times.

AN ace is your 1st shot on a hole when playing a round of DG. If you are emptying the bag or staying on one hole tring to make it then it is not an ace.

Sounds like I need to go to that Cedar Brook course just to see it. I have never seen a course that short. Are there a lot of obstacles or is it just open?

To be honest ... I'll take the first throw I make off the tee into the basket as my first ace. It wouldnt mean the same as a first throw ace, but if I'm practicing and make it in on my 4th throw off the tee Im taking it. An ace is an ace - to me at least.

If you're throwing multiple shots, I'd argue that it isn't an "ace" by definition since you're not keeping score (along the lines of what magictenor said). Throwing multiple shots is just practice, some will hit, some will miss. Is it cool if you make it in? Definitely. Would I count it as a true ace? Definitely not.

I know I wouldn't derive the same satisfaction from hitting a true ace and hitting one after trying 50 times in a row. I wouldn't have the patience to sit at the same tee and try until I made it either :)

Its easy he plays at Rutgers multiple times a day and also if you watch his video's like 300 of them are from the same course and 200 of them is on hole #9 and it is well under 100 feet. Most of the course is under 150 feet so yeah i think its real but yet way to easy.

It is still an "ace", I wouldn't put it on my card though.

By the same logic of it's just practice, if you were working on your distance drives and your best is 400 feet and you threw all your drivers and the fourth one went 430 feet you would still be able to count it as 430 feet.

I don't think Cubby is editing his tapes. He does throw several from the tee at really short holes, and he plays alot. He is aware of his ability, has a good knowledge of his discs, and plays these holes very often. It is cool that he brings awareness to our sport.

You have to accept him in DG the same way the Harlem Globetrotters are accepted in basketball.

Cubby isn't harming anyone by doing what he is doing, and I'm sure he's a great guy and all. If he wants to make himself look like a tool with his video camera, more power to him.

Harlem Globetrotters are a good analogy. They area fun representation of BB. But you don't say how a globetrotter dominated the game because he scored 50 points. Cubby is fine as what he is. he's not bad for the sport and he's not a bad guy, it's just that some of us don't see how an ace can be anything other than your 1st shot on a hole. If I throw my 3rd shot from the tee because of OB that is a 3 not a 1 so not an ace. the whole idea of an ace is one shot onto your score.

I remember watching the episode of Numb3rs when Don got an Ace...already referenced on these forums. I don't know if the videos are real or not...I don't really think it matters because it promotes the sport. I do agree that emptying your bag on a 100' hole diminshes any value of an "ace".

I also like t i m 's analogy of Bigfoot. He is a mystery, but not really harming anyone.

But what have we all leanred from this: simple...don't give Cubby a shaken up soda or he will flip your golf cart over!

Love cubby.....he's like Bigfoot, Globetrotters, etc...very true......but I liken him to Kimbo Slice, no matter what people say in public about him being a fraud... you just keep going on YouTube and checking him out and showing your friends....definetely good for the sport.

His uncanny ability to strike the exact same pose for every picture is also quite impressive.

I've played with him. Those videos aren't fake. Ya'll need to find something better to do than keep bashing a man who's trying to promote the sport.

well said timg. and while his aces might be debated as to whether they count as aces or not, he is definitely throwing from the tee into the basket. He's probably brought a few people to the game, so i say he's fine. Although it does seem like he wants the whole world to know how good he is at acing holes, his attitude while doing it is between him and God. He's promoting the sport.

Chances are if its being filmed its probally not a real ace i mean you wouldnt setup a camera a thousand times to catch one ace. And i think some of you dont know the difference between a hole in one and an ace , if your not putting a 1 on the scorecard its not an ace its a hole in one.
