Recommendations for 2011 Christmas Secret Santa

If you are a premium member you clearly are not going to just rip people off of 20 bucks and vanish, the crown cost you 25. Plus you've been on long enough for people to vouch for you. But good points

I'm not so much worried about how I'm seen but there are others that are active and don't trade either.

I also can't put a $$$ on what I'll be sending because it most likely will be coming from my collection of vintage plastic and/or my stock of left over tournament discs from events I've ran over the years. Lots of hard to find items.

Too many rules make it more difficult. I want to be in but I think last year worked well. No need to make too many changes.

It dragged on well in to August and there's still some people who never received a package. Changes need to be made to ensure everyone keeps their part of the bargain in a timely fashion.

I'm not a 5 and I wasnt in the SS!!! So how are you going to work guys like me in? Honestly the guys you took gifts but didnt send any out should get banned from this site! Get the names of the guys who got screwed and see if they are going to be in the SS or not. If they are you can see if any members would send alittle extra for these guys who got screwed and if they do not " because they got screwed" , who ever is running it ask members to send you just 1 item then after you see what you have you can actually make some gifts up for these guys !

For my half of the first SS we only had like 2 problems and one of them was a mix-up and not anything deliberate.

That being said, I don't know how many did the July one but I had 50 within like 5 days last year for the first SS. The pairing thing was just a simple way to keep it sane. Randomizing IMO will just end up with more admin errors which result in people not getting something.

Also, I agree with the not knowing factor. Normal gift giving is just that...you buy something for somebody and they get it and hopefully like it. Something unknown is cool because you have to think "is this a pretty universal thing?" or "man, I hope he likes this".

We honestly used very little SS stuff for ourselves, most of it ended up in my tourney prize box...which is just as good or better because I have what I use in abundance and this means the gift gave twice...first we got the excitement and joy of opening a completely random, unknown gift (not a Bill likes gazelles, lets get 10) AND we got to pass the awesome down to others who would actually use them.

Also there are always D-bags...someone will find a way to deadbeat their way out of it no matter how many regulations you create.

Keep it Christmas and less 7-day cool off for a handgun.

I really would like to participate in the Christmas 2011 SS. I have no iTrader feedback. I sure hope that won't exclude me from participating. With that said...

I think a check and balance system would be necessary to deter people from signing up who do not intend to send, but only receive... whether it is a suspension or ban from DGCR or a name (DGCR name) posted to another site to warn others of there lack of participation. I also think anybody who failed to send out a gift should be barred from participating in future SS's.

I think that having a DGCR name for the person you are sending to would be beneficial. Allowing senders the ability to add specific items to their randomness would make for a lot of extra cool packages.

I also think that there should be both a minimum and maximum value placed on the packages. $20-$50 dollars after shipping would suffice and perhaps people will have a better idea of what they are getting into and what they should expect. I've seen a lot of packages that I would value at over $50... those are great, but shouldn't be expected of others to pull off or receive.

Having a deadline to register is awesome... also having a deadline to ship would be great. It wouldn't be Christmas in December 2011 if people were receiving in Jan '12, and we all know how crazy the holiday shipping can be. I think Register by Thanksgiving... addresses out by December 1st... ship by December 15th and that would just about guarantee that all packages arrive by Christmas.

I'm really looking forward to participating at least once.. maybe twice in the Christmas SS.

This is what i was hoping to do with what I receive. :)

I know I'm still new here, and some people probably think "That guy has shadeball written all over him" lol, but I'd love to be a part of the secret santa deal, as long as I knew I was getting someone a disc they actually want, instead of buying someone a 10M brick.

or almost even better yet, a groove.

You could always do minimum 5 itrader feedback OR minimum 100 posts. At least that keeps people who don't use the site at all from participating. Basically it would keep people from signing up just to get some free stuff and run.

I also think Dec 15 might be too late of a final ship date. Holiday shipping runs reallly slow.

Sounds like most people like the idea of not pairing up, but getting to know who they are sending to. Sounds good to me!

I would prefer a system where everyone ships new items to a single Santa in November and they randomly ship out an equal number to each person in December. This would work with any quantity of discs as well as clothing, minis, stickers, or anything else people wanted to include.

The down side is that Santa is going to have to pay postage to reship everything. So you can include a cookie for Santa if you'd like. Or in true modern Christmas commercialism fashion, bring in a sponsor! I'd do it in my sites name if you didn't mind business cards being part of the package.

Well if someone could let me know by pm if im good to participate and any other details would be good. Thanks!

So what you are trying to say is that you want 10 Gazelles. Noted. :D

That sounds even better....an official sign up/rules thread that is

Well if someone could let me know by pm if im good to participate and any other details would be good. Thanks!
this is just an ideas thread. official sign up will be beginning in october sometime
There will probably be an official sign up thread where you will be required to pm the organizer(s)
you will be emailing me so my box doesnt get flooded.

Yeah i just dropped some duckets into my paypal account for SS too if i get to participate.

I think it should be done so that everyone knows who they're buying for, but you have no idea who is buying for you.

I also like the idea of accountability for everyone (not just those without a lot of feedback). Maybe we can tell people upfront that if you fail to send you will receive negative feedback the organizer (solomon) which will pretty much prevent you from any future transactions in the marketplace.

I just want to throw out there that delivery confirmation should be required. This way 'I swear I sent it' has backup. I think the cost is only 45¢.
