I like to get better but I don't play tourneys too often. They cost money and time and there aren't many where I live. I really like playing and rating courses!

The thread title might have been Pro or Employment...

Lol. I was going to put a third option in there that was a mix but everyone would have picked it. I wanted to see if peoples ultimate goal for playing was more for fun or advancement to the top level. I guess I'm in the minority of people. I have always been competitive, if I play a course alone I try to beat my personal record for the course. I will throw two discs from the tee pad alternating between flick and backhand just to see which wins. Competition is fun to me and I guess the ultimate competition would be the most fun.

Having gone Pro, I have since gone unPro....and have had fun all the way (although no longer living up to my old expectations is a frustrating kind of fun).

Totaly in it for enjoying the good times.

However I am kinda ambitious and one of my personal goals is to reach a 1000 rating in my life. But working on my game and improving technique is one of the things I do enjoy about the game, so I think I will get there.

In order to be a touring pro, I'd have to get divorced, relinquish all parental rights and any quality father-son time, and give up a guaranteed pay check that I've earned through years of hard work and student loans. It's hard enough for me to get get away and play "local" tournaments (1 hour drive, minimum).

At this point, I've got nothing to prove to anyone.

I'm totally in it for the fun/social/excersize aspect of it. I haven't played in a sanctioned tourny since the mid nineties. I still play in the unsanctioned ones though.

When I first started I had thoughts of maybe "cashing" one day. Now that I realize I will probably never play more that 1 round a week...it's never going to happen.

I REALLY wish I had discovered this game 20 years ago, when I was a teen. I'll play DG until the day I can no longer physically throw a disc.

I have no aspirations to be pro, but I still take the game seriously and put in time and effort to practice and improve.

I'm a competitive person and have been involved in sports all my life. I never expected to go pro in any of them, but I always wanted to be competitive at whatever level I was competing at. So I enjoyed putting in the effort and then reaping the rewards during competition.

I agree. Day to day i am playing for enjoyment, but i get more enjoyment when i play better:thmbup:

Ah, such lofty goals here. My goal these days to to slow my decline.

My family is the most important part of my life. I was addicted to playstation to a point where I was in the top 500 in cod mp. So stupid. I broke my ps3 in half and picked up a disc. My family goes out to play dg with me almost every night and it's been the best thing that has ever happened to my relationship with my wife and kids. My wife said she is going to join her first tournament in October. It's only an ace race but it might be the coolest feeling ever. Now if I can go pro and get some extra cash doing something I love....... No brainer.

I don't think I'll ever be a 1030+ rated golfer, but I think I have potential to be pretty consistent in the 960-980 range in the future. Considering I've only been playing a couple years and I have the distance potential, crazy good spurts of putting and some really stupid putter rollers, once I learn how to put it all together with consistency, I could be pretty good.

In the meantime though, I have a lot of fun and consider myself a really great person to have on your card :).

Ask again in a few years and we'll see where I'm at.

I don't think I could or ever plan on being a touring pro, but some day I do want to be 100+ rated and be one of those guys that is the one to beat in the local scene. I still have a long way to go though, but If I practice my putting enough this winter I can see myself being 960-80 rated and top advanced level by next summer.

I'm not sure if I can be a Touring Pro due to my job and the money I make.

Locally though they consider me a Pro.If I was playing say one of those big tournaments at the really nice courses I would consider myself a really good amateur(max distance drives averaging 380+ accurately and can putt really well).

I still take all my practice rounds seriously, but have fun.I do play tournaments every now and then, but really consider myself a disc golf guru.I love helping people out when I can in bettering their game. When I see a person eyes get big on a great drive or putt, then I've done my job.

It would be an awesome thing to do,playing as a Touring Pro.If I didn't have to worry about work I would try it out, once better than I already am that is.

I'm the kind of guy who has fun by competing and the higher the level at which I can consistently compete, the more fun I'm having. I feel like I can hang with the local pros fairly well, but they'd get their arses kicked by touring pros. I want to be the best in my city and then in my state. Maybe someday it'll happen, maybe not. But that's what drives me to practice often and try to better my game.
