Which DGCR member has played the most courses?

Anyway, Hosfeld's profile is a good reminder that the number of courses checked off by DGCR isn't the same things as the number of courses played. Some may not be diligent about checking them off, and of course there are extinct and temporary courses and perhaps a few forgotten ones. My modest profile is probably a dozen short of my actual courses-played list.

Same with Ben/Innovadude. Some people are diligent about it, and some aren't. I was on DGCR quite a bit before I joined, using to find courses in the area. To be honest, the only reason I joined at first was just to keep track of courses I'd played.

One thing lead to another and I started posting on the forum. Once I'd played a quite a few, and had seen what I thought was a decent variety, I started writing reviews. Eventually, I got sucked into Landfill threads...
now I need rehab.

Yeah. I'm sure in 20 years of playing he has remembered every course. Do u remember every restaurant u have eaten at in the past 20 years.
Its not his forgetfulness of where he was the last 20 years that set off a lot of people's BS alarms. Its that his played courses lists shows that he made it to a number of of out of the way courses scattered all about the country, that prior to last year didn't even exist (meaning he would have had to been to all of those places in 2012).

It also shows that he missed courses that would have been a more obvious choice for a passing through traveler to stop at because they were...

A. A much better course,
B. More in the line of major highways
C. In the ground a lot longer.

Not "follow"....3 of the 4 visited here and I played with them. Yourself, Ben, & Gregg. With you I discussed your travels. Ben and Gregg both visited during their quest for 1000, and we talked about that.

Danhyzer hasn't visited Stoney Hill yet.

I apologize DavidSauls for not getting down to Newberry, S.C. again (As I've played Hunter Park, in 2003 and in 2008 I was close to you guys when I played the mountain part of S.C.) to play your course. No excuses except my travels have been taking elsewhere. But when I do head your way. I hope we can share the fairway together-------------- - +

To me this website is my DG bible (I value what most everyone says good or bad about the courses, I love the pictures of courses I dream of playing of one day (and feel if one posts a new course they should have a couple pictures of that course, so we can visually dream even more of that course that was just listed) and the other valueable info that is mentioned. Since the PDGA doesn't print directories anymore. This website is easier to follow and plan when I'm home or out and about playing another new course, than having to leaf through a book (not taking anything away from the people who put the PDGA directories together over the years, as back in the day. That was my DG bible/travel companion). When I get home from a trip the 2 things I like to do (other than crashing in my own bed) is to "click" the played button on this site and put a colored stick pin (sorta like what the young boy did in the movie "Mask" but I have my own personal color code of the courses I've played with different colored stick pins) onto my United States map of the courses I've played (Martin has seen this map with many multi colored stick pins strategically placed).

Can't wait for the weather to break so I can add to my new course list.

Of course, no apology's necessary. I figure one day you'll be making another swing through the area to pick up all the new courses that have popped up in and around South Carolina since your last visit.

I'm just amazed and fortunate to have played with 3 of the 4 current 1000-course players.

Some of us find his inclusion of a number private, guide-only or limited-access courses curious as well, especially where the property owners have no recollection and where the claimed visits weren't 20 years ago, but fairly recent.

Well,i am down to discuss any and every course i have played with anyone willing to sit down and listen to me.. How i accomplished my 405 was very simple, last summer i was in between jobs and was tossing around moving back to Wisconsin California. Which eventually i did but i ended up taking a 5 month long roadtrip basically playing 230 courses on top of the 175 i hard already accumilated.

Teh_Wood could very well have played that # of courses, look what Martin was able to do in just a couple years. Before Martin came along I was receiving scepticism about how many I had played. I was on the 100+ course per year pace initially and people were all concerned. Then Martin came onto the site and played 700 in a year.

I just played 93 courses in 32 days on my roadtrip (and weather and a bad back were the only things that kept me from getting over 100 played in that month). Granted I probably spent $3000 on hotels and fuel and food but it is possible. I am just fortunate to be able to take a month every year to do that. Martin has the same sort of opportunity with his jobs.

It is all about priorities, I prioritize playing new disc golf courses in my life, while someone else might prioritize sitting on a beach drinking Corona's for a month.

I love this game, I love all of the courses out there, and I love seeing and being involved with course design. It literally consumes a large portion of my thoughts in a day. I do have to focus on my landscape business in the spring and summer months, but I do not let that stop me from exploring on some weekends.

SO is the 2000 possible. . . easily (especially over a long career), but like others have said, some of the stories just do not add up. Some of the stories are confirmed however, so maybe it isn't all correct. He had been playing a long time, I do find it odd that someone wouldn't have spoken up around the time Hos and Ben did their 1000th course played.

He never wanted any recognition for this. someone put him up to picking out courses. I just dont see why people are so pessimistic. who cares. if he is making it up, thats a weird way to go about getting recognized for it, and he is only really cheating himself.

Yup, I'd literally be lost without this site, bible describes it pretty well.

I'm jealous of Dan's Map, what a cool memento to study and remember what each pin represents, each a unique disc golf experience.

I don't know about not wanting recognition. Isn't the story that he was pushed to list his courses here because he posted on his facebook about hitting 2000? So clearly he was keeping track somehow and wanted to make a big deal out of 2000 played, at least amongst his (facebook) friends. Seems to me if you are tracking it, even just for yourself, it matters to you on some level. Allowing yourself to be "pushed" into posting the list here implies it matters a bit more than he might let on too.

And even if he didn't care to make a big deal about himself when Ben and Gregg made a big deal about hitting 1000, someone this guy knows had to realize that how many he'd played and speak up, no?

I'm generally not one to go in conspiracies, especially around here, but this strikes me as fishy. It's not an earth-shattering thing, though. It's kinda like someone claiming to have shot a score on a course that's 3-4 strokes better than anyone has been known to shoot, but absolutely no one knows who he is or has seen him play the course. It's one of those cases where you'd think if someone was that good, somebody would have heard of him before the big claim. It's easy to be skeptical of it.

It's not pessimistic to point out conceived lies, it's being realistic.

Why lie about it though? So he can be some kind of hero to hundreds?

I don't have an opinion, or theory on the matter. Don't really care at all, just read the thread and had a few laughs about it. Pretty easy to tell that he's not being 100% truthful about what courses he has and has not played... and when you get into substituting courses you haven't played for courses you can't find on the site... it gets into a gray area.

Though, I did get to see/talk to Gregg Hoffsfield last year when he was making his way through and happened to play our little 18 holer in town. Gregg and Ben played their 1000th courses together, to have a guy come out of the woodwork and claim double that... with a bunch of things not adding up is shady. I don't really care at all, just was pointing out that it's not pessimism to call someone out on conceived lies.

I hope to one day be able to help you add more pins to that map :D. As for the one I did help you add, it was played in a new 18 hole monster layout. With multiple par 4's and 5's and lots of OB. It definatly took it up a notch! I'm not sure if they are going to keep the new layout perminantly, but lots of us are pushing for it.

lol, the nobody put him up to this argument is kind of funny. do you really think it's beyond impossible that those two people are in on this epic troll togethe?. one guy says oh i know a guy who played 2000+ courses but he's not the bragging type. then guy two gets on and follows up with his well i don't want any recognition but i did it schtick....

or maybe the_wood just said he did all that to a bunch of people and when it was actually time to start listing which courses he played he had to embelish cuz he was lying.

or maybe he really did play all those courses by sneaking on in the early morning and playing them rambo style.

Or maybe he wanted to **** with all the people on here who think this **** matters IRL

If it is an epic troll it is sad. Just because it doesnt matter to him does not mean it doesnt matter to others. I am not asking anyone to care about the fact I have played 553 courses in 4 years, but I am proud of it. It has been a lot of fun for me to accomplish and if someone needs to rain on my parade to make themselves feel better its just sad.

I don't really care that much because I am going to keep "doing me" as they say. I get enjoyment out of playing new courses all over the country. I am willing to spend $3000 in fuel and food and hotel funds to play 93 courses in a month long roadtrip. Someone mocking what I do will not stop me from doing it, because it is something I thoroughly love. He can keep "doing him" and if trolling to make fun of people on the internet is his thing then so be it. Best of luck to him!

If it isn't an epic troll job . .. then he is obviously someone I have a kindred spirit with because noone gets to 2000 courses played without thoroughly enjoying themselves at doing it.

Maybe someday he will check off one of the courses I put in the ground.
