[Vibram] Vibram Disc Golf Thread (Part II)

Quick clarifying question. I absolutely LOVE my Medium X-Link Laces, and I understand that I may (or may not) be of the minority opinion of loving the current Lace configuration/stability.

However, you're saying that in time, there feasibly could be like 3 "Laces" much like there are currently 3 Nukes? (i.e., Nuke SS, Nuke, Nuke OS)

If so, no problem - I'll gladly keep buying "Regular Laces" even when the "OS Lace" and the "Ridiculously OS Lace" arrive ...I just want to make sure that the Lace itself isn't being re-tooled to become more OS overall (thus, the current Lace that I love disappears and I need to start hoarding now)

Sorry of that is a n00b question... it seems that my assumption (based on what is written here) is correct, but I just want to verify! :)

Thanks, I hope you all have a great day!

As far as I know there are no plans to rework the lace, but rather to release another mold to complement the lace and be more useful in winds than the Lace is. I, too would be disappointed if the current Lace was changed, and I think Vibram knows players like it but want a complement to it.

Rock on, thanks Kutz!

I am actually hoping for four discs in each distance and speed range from Vibram that fill the Understable, Stable, Overstable and Massively Overstable categories. So yes, similar to what Discraft did with the Nuke Trilogy but even cooler because there would be 4 discs in the series.

I would love this but I carry so many variations of their discs already I don't think I'll have room. I've got 6 plastic discs left in my bag and if they release discs for spots I don't have filled plus filling old ones....I fear I'm gonna need a new bag.....I fear for my wallet more.

The distance number on yours is actually 6.8 and was the original system for measuring intended distance. 40 x 6.8 = 272. They just rounded down to 270' when they switched to the new system.

Edit: Yes, it is an earlier run but with no special significance, just a different way of notating the intended flight characteristics of the disc.

I've been looking for this explanation for quite awhile.

I like this ... and then realize I will also need a bigger bag. The next step is a custom Vibram bag that fits doubles of each of their molds, along with a rubber bottom that has tread.

We would never retool a disc without changing the name. The Lace will not be changed and will continue to be made.

I love my vibrams but I think it may be time to let em loose...

Playing in a vibram birdie bash this weekend. Never thrown a vibram, never played this course, supposed to be windy as hell and cold. Sounds like a recipe for a glorious victory, amirite?

I throw pretty much exclusively MVP, so I ordered an Obex and VP...because they closely match the flights of the vector and a more OS ion (which I like the idea of). I really would rather not go into this completely blind, so I've got a couple questions, maybe somebody could help me out!

This course has some pretty tough dogleg right holes (didn't know that before ordering, whoops), and having 2 OS discs might put me in a bind. I know when I forehand my vector, I need to be really, really careful to watch the OAT problems, else it just will turn and burn right away. Is the obex the same way? Or can you shape an s out of it more effectively? Basically...I need to figure out a way to play these holes with discs not ideally suited to the layout...hah.

The other question...how does the VP work as a tweener Midrange/P&A disc? I guess, how does it compare to the zone in practice? Is it stable enough?

I would say the vibram discs are actually less touchy when it comes to FH shots and know EXACTLY what you mean about vectors (same with ions/anodes too, really hope the new MVP OS mid will be more FH friendly)

The VP is slower than an ION and maybe a little more stable. It does the same things essentially but will feel a little fatter in the hand and just not go as far/fast. You can layyyyyyy into a VP and it won't turn over even with a little OAT where ION's are way more touchy in that sense and hold an anhyzer line better. MVP's seem to have better glide IMO and will slide around on the ground more than vibrams which stick but I think you will really enjoy the discs, I just don't like a slow putter you can't drive past 300 without crazy height or angles and the VP is a tank compared to an ION when driving/approaching.
