[Vibram] Vibram Disc Golf Thread (Part II)

I was working on turning the Ascent over and getting nice s curves with it as opposed to the inevitable right turn for a LHBH thrower. I was getting sone nice tight lines and figured out how to throw it so it ended up more or less as if I had thrown it straight.

Cool disc.

I have actually been throwing my Trak quite a bit more lately and wow is it straight-flying. I keep losing one every time I get 2 in my bag though! Ugh. $15 rubber losses suck haha

Cool disc.

Once you get rid of the mold stiffness, that Ascent has about a .5 to 1 turn and can make a really tight s. Even cooler... as it SLOWLY beats in, it loses LSS and makes an even tighter S and awesome sweeping hyzers.

As much as I love my VPs, I think the hardest discs to take out of my bag would be my Ascents.

I feel ya, I'm short 2 vps right now, only have the soft to throw.

I am extremely sorry to hear that, no man should have to go without his VPs.

I've lost a 175M Ascent, 175F Trak, and 173F Ridge in the last three weeks... two of those in Florida!

Had a buddy of mine compare his ESP Nuke vs. the R419. We found that the R419 beats out a Nuke for distance every time =).... He released it on a slight hyzer, the disc gained some good height but continued to hyzer flip up, finally it finished flipping flew straight for a bit before it hyzered out. All this took place into a headwind, not a massive headwind, I'd say around 5-10 mph, maybe a 15 mph gust every once and awhile. He was into the grip of the disc and the rubber feel, also the release he said was fantastic with every disc, this is his first time throwing any Vibram rubber. He also enjoyed my Ibex, Ascent, and Trak. Basically he was thinking about purchasing some Vibram when we finished our round.

Going to doubles tomorrow night to see what other people have to say about the R419. I think they'll like it.

So far I like the disc and i'm sure it will have a spot in my bag as soon as I figure out the disc. Wicked fast!

Oh man. The 420 is OVERSTABLE! Wow.

I made the 419 do WHATEVER I wanted. Note: there was zero wind. It went far. I accidentally left my bag (was too excited to chuck these protos) at home so didn't have my Laces with me. I feel like they are similar in flight, but the Lace has some more stability and can handle some more power.

my thoughts exactly, R419 can do anything just by adjusting power, my favorite understable disc so far.

You hit the nail on the head- if you can adjust your power (and angles), you can hit some filthy inside out distance lines/flights. With that said, if you are a player that doesn't have a lot of power, you are going to love this one. And here I thought that the Lace had easy distance. The 419 has that easy D. I'm interested to see my fiance throw it tomorrow and see how it flies compared to some of her understable stuff.

That is exactly my first impressions of this disc (R420B). I finally felt good enough today (80-85%) to go out and get some throws on this since I pulled a ton of muscles in my back and strained some tendons in my elbows almost a week ago now.

For grip, it was shallow, but not so shallow that I had problems with it releasing early. I really liked the rounded part on the bottom of the rim and feel like that made it a lot easier to grip and throw.

I noticed as I began to figure out how to throw it that when mashed upon, it would hold straight before cutting hyzer almost exactly like the Stiletto that I threw last weekend would. I would be extremely surprised if anyone managed to turn the R420B over so that it never came back, even into a stiff headwind. When thrown alongside my Laces, it was clear that there was no comparison. I set it on the desk next to my Laces, and the bottom of its wing was EVEN with the top of my Lace's wing.

I had a few people that don't have the power I do throw it, and it was exactly what I expected: hyzer the millisecond it left their hand.

I believe that the R420B fills a hole in the Vibram lineup. I would put it in the massively overstable Lace slot. I got some video that I hope to have up pretty soon.

Agreed. I'm throwing this thing 250 feet about 50% power with just a little anhyzer to it. It just glides.

Is anyone's else flight plate feel a little more like the soft x-link, rather than medium X-link. I know they are mediums, but mine feels a little gooier than all my mediums. I like the feel, super grippy.

Well, I am liking what I hear about the R420. Crazy overstable is good. That still leaves a slot between the Lace and R420 though.

As for the R419, I am wondering if it is going to be much different than my 167g Lace that I have used to the point now where I am almost sure I won't be able to throw it at lower elevations.

FWIW: The 419 has more stability than those flippy proto laces (for those of you who've threw em).

We are still in early phases of getting results from the tester team. If all goes well, July or August.
Sounds like that 419 may be exactly what I'm looking for, so I'll be snagging one when they come out.

My Ibex and my two Ridges have quickly become my go-to discs (to the extent that I'm thinking seriously about selling off my trusty Star Mako). They do what I want them to do, and I've got the confidence in them that I need to throw them well. My only heartbreak is that I lost my Trak the afternoon I got it and haven't replaced it yet (probably this week). I've never been much of a single manufacturer person (I've always prided myself on carrying 3 or 4 different brands in my bag), but I could see me going all Vibram with no problem.
