[Question] Who here throws black discs?

I was just curious to hear some first-hand experience from someone who throws/has thrown black discs. They look really awesome, but are they really that difficult to see mid/post flight? I feel like finding a green/yellow disc in the spring or an orange disc in the fall would be just as difficult as searching for a black disc. I would love to hear your opinion before I buy something I'll lose on the first throw, thanks!

I have a stack of black wizards that I really like the feel of for putting, but they only ever get used for putts, never thrown. I've had to help way too many people look for their drive with a black disc in a dark forest to ever want to do that on a regular basis.

I have a black MVP Amp that is sweet. Sometimes hard to find when thrown into naughty areas though.

I have a black Star Teebird I only use on high-visibility holes. It does look cool, but it can be a pain at times.

It is also a scientific fact that black putters find more chains.

I have three black wizards. I use them for approach shots and putting in the wind only, though. Off the tee they can be scary.

I played a tournament once with a guy whose go-to driver was black. It was gone by the end of the round.

I tried to use a black zone for a bit. On one tee shot, I put it right in the middle of the fairway. Walked right past it without noticing. Eventually doubled back and stumbled upon it.

So no more black discs for me. Except for putters, I like black putters. But I carry a colored compliment for longer putts and approach shots.

This right here but with a different mold. I carry a white ching aviar for my shorter shots.

I have a few black P2's. I only have one in the bag right now, and use it as my main putter.

I have a black volt, pretty beat in, makes for a nice turnover disc right now. I loooooove black discs and i love throwing them. i have fairly good eyesight so as long as i don't throw it on some ridiculously wooded course where I won't find it.

I throw a black Wizard for approach and long putts. Sometimes off the tee, but I can tell you from field practice, it's one of the harder discs for me to find.

I used Black McPro Aviars for a little while, but when i changed my form i changed discs to, and haven't gone back since i've been putting so well.

I threw Black Destroyers with cool dual stamps (part silver/part gold) for my main distance drivers. I never had a problem finding them, but since they were only used as long distance drivers they were always thrown on open holes. But I changed them out for my Prodigy drivers, so I no longer throw them.

I have a couple black Z challengers. I love 'em but it is totally different looking for a black disc than it is looking for green on green or orange in the fall.

Black hides in any shadows and does not get illuminated by the sun. Orange, Green, Red, etc. will all glint or brighten in the sun making them easier to spot- and the color aids locating them in shadows.

Black is just always tough. So I usually only carry black in putters.

I have a black aviar, halo, striker, stalker and midnight buzzz that I use often. They can be a pain for sure but I like them.

I have one black Wizard, and I haven't bagged it in a while. I don't think I'd ever take anything faster than a putter out on the course, too easy to lose. Black discs look great, but are only slightly easier to see than some of the virtually-invisible tie dyes out there...

I've also wondered why people throw clear discs...

Used to use a black Star Aviar with a jack-o-lantern stamp. Looked sweet, but mostly used it for putts. I'm waiting for MVP to release Neutron Eclipse discs, so I can get a reverse stormtrooper (black plastic, white overmold).

I have a black FR Surge that I throw a lot. The stamp is bright blue and always pops. However, I don't throw it in a really high risk of loss situation. I don't think it's difficult to see during flight either. Fortunately it sounds like you're looking to buy something that will be stock. So go ahead and buy it. If you lose it you'll know to go with a different color. But I've had the same disc for about 5 years, so if you're willing to put in the search time like any other disc sometimes requires you should be fine.

A bunch of answers where people have black drivers that they love to throw but don't throw them when there's a risk of loss. To me, that messes with how I think about what disc to throw. I don't have any discs in the bag with much sentimental value, I feel comfortable throwing whatever disc is right for the shot. When I've had discs I didn't want to lose in the bag I found myself throwing less appropriate discs to cover for that and ended up with worse shots and more chances to lose discs.

That is what I am seeing as well. Although, I am worried about losing any of my discs as it is, as I don't have a ton of revenue to replace them. I like the idea of black discs, but I don't think they're practical for my income (or my aim for that matter). Thanks for the responses!
