best way to get a disc out of a tree

I got a brand new stiletto stuck in a tree today and I just couldn't get it down. I nailed it with a rock but it was stuck to good and its too high to poke it out with any kind of stick so I'm wondering if anyone else has any ideas.

How high is it? I've always used a lacrosse ball but you mentioned the rock couldn't get it. Too high for a collapsible tent pole?

A guy I occasionally play with brings a slingshot and golf balls for this kind of problem.

I don't know how well it works, but it's probably more sensible than a rope and grappling hook.

Slingshots with larger projectiles work really well. Don't use small pebbles or buckshot BBs. I've punctured a DX disc with buckshot. The disc came down though.

I carry about ten golf balls in the pocket of my bag, can't remember ever having to leave a Disc in a tree.

I understand there is a version of Disc Golf you can play with these balls. You have to hit them with a stick, and count your "hits" like you're supposed to count throws. Very, very expensive and full of overly well-dressed people. Sounds kooky if you ask me...

I'm usually dumb enough to throw a disc at it, and if that gets stuck then I usually climb the tree. I've climbed many trees that you would not think would be climbable.

Half full water bottle flies like a missile. Shake the tree if it's small enough. Climb till you can if it's large.

MEGA LULZ :hfive:

Golf balls FTW, though. Easy to toss, easy to retrieve.

I've hit it dead on with a large rock several times so its way to stuck to throw something at it and the tree is too difficult for me to climb. And its probably about 50 feet high so its practicly impossible to get any kind of pole long enough without being to flexible. I might try the slingshot idea tomorrow.

I just had this happen to me with my new shark3 at river city nature park in debary. Palm frawns surrounded it so I had no way of throwing something at it. I tried bear hugging the tree and shaking it but it was to stuck. I also have used a waterbottle, some good ideas in here though. I am gonna start carrying some golf balls for this purpose.
