Big Hyzer Bags Ergo 2

Ten days from the time John and I spoke on the phone this hot purple joint was in my hands. Of course someone else had to try it on first...

This is the switch.

This is all the crap that I'm putting in the new ride.

Twenty discs, including 5 putters.

It is a bit tight. I will likely slim some stuff down, but I'm going to roll like this to leagues and see how it works out.

I went the custom route to get the purple, and to have John addd the pockets that have been posted up a bit. I also got the stool/umbrella clip on both sides.

People have been saying that the straps have seemed a bit short for bigger guys. Because of these reviews I had originally asked John to make my straps longer. When we spoke he said he had literally just changed the strap template and the new straps were about 4inches longer than the previous versions. He said he's 6'4" and a touch over 200lbs. and they fit him well. I trusted his judgement and went with the standard new length straps.

I don't know how the previous length straps would fit me, but these fit me well. I prefer my bag to up as high as possible and keep the straps pulled pretty tight.

I'm 6'3" and 300lbs for reference.

Just got mine in the mail and loaded it up. Only things I don't like about it are that there is no chest strap, but that's my fault because I forgot to ask him to add one, and putting discs back in it is a pain.

Does anybody else have issues when putting discs back in? When I pull one out the other two fall, obviously, but then to get the disc I threw back in I need to use both of my hands to shimmy the discs around so that the disc I'm putting back in doesn't get caught on the inside of the rim on the disc above it.

Edit: I'm an idiot and just now thought to put the discs the other way around (stamp down) and have solved my problem :p

How well does that stand up on slopes & such with the discs vertical and all that weight up high? I really like the idea of the vertical storage but worry about it being more tippy.

Most of the weight is still down low. I've found that you face the bag uphill and it's fine. I also have laid the bag down on hills. Haven't had a problem.

Has anyone made the switch from Grip and able to tell me what your personal experiences are?

Here's a mention
This bag is awesome. I don't carry a bunch of extra stuff on the course, so the smallish amount of storage doesn't bother me at all. I love the way it feels on my back, it's hard to believe something would be more comfortable than my Grip A, but it is. I love how the weight is distributed evenly up and down your back. I have 21 discs in mine. 4 of which are putters in the putter pocket (easily I'll add). I got a custom maroon/grey that is great.

Dude that purple is sick! Nice choice! Looks like its time to upgrade my ergo 1.

I'm definitely a fan.

I've only just got the Ergo but so far so good. The storage is definitely less in the Ergo, but so far it's not an issue really. The Ergo is definitely better feeling on my back than the L series (haven't used an A series more than just trying it on). The weight is better distributed. Picking the bag up and one-arm carrying is similar, but when the Ergo is on my back it is all but un-noticeable. The straps are much thicker and more padded than the Grip's.

So far so good. It also sits well on my stool.

I tend to put my bag perpendicular to the slope of the hill and that takes care of any tipping issues.

Absolutely love the Ergo 2....if you are on the fence, get it and you will be glad you did! Not only is the bag comfortable and super durable, John is one of the nicest guys you will meet.

Once I sell my A Series, I'll be ordering one.

Aside from all of the positives, I like that they're so firm on American made products. I'm also a bit peeved with Grip for having ended their relationship with http://onepercentfortheplanet.org/.

They used to be a part of this, but they are no longer. Aside from their releasing a new bag every year while continually raising their prices, I felt good knowing a company I has supported was supporting other things I care about. Ending their relationship with http://onepercentfortheplanet.org/ makes me feel like Grip only wants profits now. I'm not overly keen on supporting companies like that.

Contemplating making the switch ffrom my mahal to one of these.. But I'm worried I won't have enough extra room when I really need it.

If you're using all the storage of the Mahal, you won't. The Ergo is a great bag, but it definitely doesn't have a ton of storage room. I posted that pic of everything I'm carrying, but that's it. There's no more room for much else.

Having used a Mahal for a couple seasons though, I would still choose the Ergo. The Mahal is a super comfortable bag, but the Ergo feels better to me.

Just the black on black. Nothing extra. Found a coupon code so I figured I would just get in for the color I wanted (all black) and not worry about spending a ton extra. :)

How much is it costing to do this custom color combination because if I can do that, I'm not going to wait for a Simian (even though they themselves are AWESOME). The Ergo 2 has my attention...
