Meh. Manufactured controversy. I do like the other guy's response, though. Both sports have their pluses and minuses; only in a silly setting like the opinion page does one have to be "better" than the other.

He most likely is a frequent poster here.

Well he should check out the top 10 courses then and re-think his "disc golf is free" statement... lol

GOOD disc golf is not free.
They say that ball golf is more difficult, that it requires more practice and thought. This untrue, uninformed and egotistical school of thought is all too common among ball golfers.
Golf is truly harder to play. I don't even know if ball golf is a real sport either like Frolf. .

Here is a thought, how about these idiots stop comparing 2 totally different sports which basically share a scoring system lol. Is Lacross the same as Soccer?! or Hockey? Cricket vs Baseball? I mean come on........

The reasons I play disc golf far more often than swat golf, are not addressed in the original article. There is some truth though. I agree that swat golf is harder than disc golf. But, the hardest sport? Guy never tried to play hockey. The two sports are not really comparable, other than some rules and scoring concept.

yeah most people can walk-- ice skating for the first time is one of the most entertaining things you can ever watch someone do.

The first article does illustrate one thing for sure...Sucking at disc golf is at least a lot more fun than sucking at ball golf.

It's also hard to compare difficulties because ball golf is so much more established. A lot of disc golf courses are closer to putt putt golf in difficulty (1 drive and then you are putting). Is putt putt harder than disc golf? I'm not so sure about that.

If anyone goes out to play disc golf tomorrow, they can do something pretty regularly that the best player in the world does just as often

Oh, I guess I'm just playing with the wrong people.

Play some "real" mini golf courses in Myrtle beach and Florida, par 4's and 5's with OB sand traps, and real grass. It'll open your eyes a bit. Never though about "laying up" in mini golf :p

I agree and disagree.

Roughly 50% of DGC's are 9 hole courses under 4k feet long and still considered true disc golf courses with regular events there. Putt putt golf is a whole different market from that of golf. Here locally we have a 9 hole "training" facility that isn't even listed as a actual golf course and not really considered to be one by a person who CAN play. When I played golf we went there a lot because it was one of the few courses we could actually make shots on. Playing a "real" golf course was beyond demoralizing and you were an "outsider" in that sense who didn't even really belong there, lol.

For sure two different beasts though and ignorance lies within trying to compare them at all really.
