Ace Races: Legacy vs. Discraft

winnerspackage1.jpg

do you believe in magic?

Legacy for sure, that's how i got myself into legacy in the first place.

The winners package is amazing.. every disc that legacy makes, fitted hat, car logo, quality rag and a lanyard that's like $200 worth of stuff

Oh my… you get… A LANYARD! :)

Discraft's prize package is pretty good too, including eight discs as well, plus a bag, plus the trophy disc.

Just sayin'. Plus, I doubt most people really care about the prize package. I'd play both, but if I had to play one… I'd play whichever was more convenient and/or looked like more fun (i.e. course selection might play a role, the TD, etc.).

no pic but yep--
Prize package:
2014 grand prize for each event is a Discraft merchandise package, including a bag, eight new discs and a Supercolor Buzzz trophy disc. Large events (150+ players, ask your TD!) will receive a CHAINSTAR BASKET as their grand prize! Events are also encouraged to offer an optional cash side pot for those who wish to participate, which is divided proportionally among the number of aces and/or metal hits.

Does anybody throw Legacy discs? o_O

Not trolling, I just have never seen their discs on the course. Do they have a comparable player pack to Discraft's?

Found a Rampage last week - guy had inked it and so he got it back. I did throw it a couple times just to see - nice disc.

It's really a 50/50 thing. They both have ups and downs. We dropped the ace race this year for te battle of aces.
Discraft is 5 bucks cheaper
Legacy is 2 different disc vs same one disc
Legacy is using established disc (we are using gauge and rival) vs new disc
Discraft looks like a better player pack this year.
And this can go on and on
I would defiantly make my choice based on course and td history.

We chose the legacy over discraft this year because there are less legacy events vs discraft. Hoping to draw some extras instead of loosing to other courses.

The event page on Legacy's webpage only shows 4 events as opposed to the hundreds of Discraft events. Now I want ti support the "underdog" and go to one from Legacy. I have never thrown their plastic.

Same here, first i did it with MVP, got lots of people exposed to MVP in my area, now many people have at least 1 MVP in the bag. (Which is super hard when they don't run an ace race or sell cheap base plastic to try)

Now im trying to do the same with Legacy, they really are a great company and make excellent discs. Can't go wrong with any of their current molds.

Its all about getting people to try new things and support good companies, tired of all the uptight Innova/Lat64 huckers who are unwilling try a disc from another company. So many good molds out there.

most hypocritical post of the year!

If you're bagging all from the same company at a time, not much getter than the Innova/Trilogy 'chuckers'. *shrug*

lol right now looking at my bag, i have a zone (discraft), destroyer and firebird (innova), all legacy molds, and an Envy (MVP).

Last year this time i had All MVP and various discs from lat64 (Tursas, Fuse, Bolt), Innova (Tern, Destroyer), and a Wizard (Gateway) as well as many others i have tried since then

I plan to try MVP again when they release base plastic

I ran a Legacy Ace Run last year. We got a Pinnacle Patriot and Gravity Ghost (I was able to request these molds), shirt, stickers, wristband, Bearded Bros bar. The TD has to pay for shipping, but they send extra stuff to sell to recover those costs (about 10 discs - I sold them at wholesale prices and still turned a profit and was able to provide pizza for the players). They also give a TD package which is a hat, banner and couple of discs. The grand prize was 12 discs IIRC, towel, lanyard, and hat.

I also had opened up a Junior division and Legacy donated 8 more discs (way cool of them) for a Jr. Grand Prize. My niece was playing in Jr's so that was a big deal to me.

That said, I have played in several DC Ace Races and the player's packs are always great. I still use the pint glasses from last year and the erasable scorecard. The towel for this year looks rad.

I throw a good amount of Legacy, and currently no Discraft, yet I will still play a DC AR this year. I will also be running another Legacy BOTA. Because fun.

Wow, didn't know you could request the molds you want, that's really cool. Allows you to chose discs that fit the course your playing on better. Short course, Ghost/Gauge.. Long course, Rival/Patriot

Two Outlaws please :D

I'm going to try and get a Legacy event at my local course next year.

There are usually 2-3 Discraft Ace Races within a half hour of where i live every year would be nice to see something different
