The Elusive Ace

Aces are cool (I have two in rounds), but putting lights out for a full round (or day) is way cooler. I've seen the worst players you could imagine hit aces, but couldn't hit a putt from 10' to save their lives.
This.^^^:hfive:
on one of the aces posted above....I couldnt do jack crap allday. It was a determination shot....er, desperation shot lol. I would ratner be lights out putting too, unless its at a weekly event for a few hundred smackers.

There is an Ace club posted on the bulletin board of the local pitch and putt. The longest hole is 285', most are under 250'. A majority of aces posted are with Orcs, Beasts, Nukes, etc. Several of those are on holes under 200'. There is no doubt that many of those people were going ace or bust with a driver instead of going for the higher percentage mid-range shot. I also don't doubt that many of those folks with an ace or bust mentality have more aces than I do. Of course, I'd also be willing to bet that those guys are rarely ever near my personal best of -17 at that course.

I'd bet those players are going ace or bust with a driver because they don't own a midrange.

I have thrown 3 aces with extreme intention...so enthralled with my target, as if I had willed my disc in.

My last one was like that. Just stepped up, felt really good about the throw, and unloaded. It was due though - over 2 years

And short holes are deceiving mindf*@#s.

I agree 100%. Like I said, there is one that seems like the no-brainer hole that everyone should be able to Ace, you all know what I mean. The short hole, not full power toss, usually use a mid or putter hole, and it just isn't going to go in. It will land right under, just behind, just a few to the left or right, or even be right on track and a gust will knock it off track.

Then there is that hole that you have said all along just getting through the trees, obstacles, etc, is a great shot and you are making it even closer to having an Ace on that one. Hell it can even be one that you feel is too long and you still are making it close.

I don't play to Ace a hole, but I sure would like to cross it off the list. And when I go for an Ace, my mind is out of whack, when I let it ride going for that easy duece, it seems that I am almost there.

I agree, I would take that day in and day out, and when you are on, you are f'n on!

Paging *ohtobediscing*

Probably out fighting a fire somewhere. Hopefully staying safe.

Unless he's hit one recently, he has 34 years without an ace. I'm sure he probably doesn't care anymore, but I wish him luck to get one.

I have not got a 1 on the score card yet.
And some 2s are harder to write down than others

There are only a couple of holes that I will ace run. They must have a nice backstop so I don't have a punishing come back putt if (when) I miss chains. Hole 4 at Harry Myers is one of those.

I agree with the "aces just happen" theory. And they are a big deal. Every one around cheers and high fives..... And yes the can contribute to a new course record as my second did for me. But, I felt like I had to throw an equal score with out an ace to make it official for some reason? Happy ace hucking.

Thats cold!!

Most of my ace or busts were during weekly doubles or triples matches. My partner was always parked and then KA-BOOM. During one of the triples matches I hit like a $275+ ace pot. First guy on my team threw and the disc was less than a foot, right over the top of the basket....second guy throws and doinks the front of the cage. They essentially threw the same shot and I was framed the perfect shot, let her rip and it was on like donkey kong

Just go for the ace on short holes. Aces are exciting, and training yourself to not fear the come back putt is good mental practice :D

Try as I may, I have yet to get and Ace. Hell, I have yet to hit basket or chains on a near miss Ace. I have come close, angle has been right, flight path spot on, just either too long or too short, and not by much. Maybe I should be happy with that as hitting chains or basket would probably be even more unbearable.

We have a course at work, and we laugh because there is a short hole that we have come close on, but we all know it will be that tough hole, the one that takes the right path, right angle, even hits the branch just right, that will make it happen. You know, the hole that seems impossible, yet at times you feel you just missed it.

Oh well, getting ready to go out at lunch time and try again. :wall:
Just out of curiosity i want to look up your "local" course you play most and look it over. Let me know the name.

12 years of playing. I have one. :/. Mine came 8 years ago. I did have a 2 year gap where I didn't play much because the closes course was over an hour away and I was an intern with no cash. But either way, so many chain outs and and near missed. My buddy though has 12 years and no aces.

I just got my first ace the other day. It was funny I was in a group of 3 people the 2 others said they didnt wanna go first and I was like I dont care ill throw. Then they just watched in awe. This is my second year playing a lot and their first year playing. Best feeling getting that first ace! The crazy thing ive landed close to baskets several times before but I've never hit one off a drive. I'm not a all star player by any means but I do play with a putter lol and the ace was made with a Vibram Unlace.

I did just buy a envy tho cause of MikeC video how can you argue with that and he is all about them hope it helps me get my 2nd ace! Good luck every one!

I do also have a friend that has been playing for 10 years and has never got one but I tell him he is better then me so its bound to happen at some point
