Your Favorite Plastic

I have to say that my favorite plastic right now is G*.... I don't play in lava rock.

A very close second is what I call the the 750g plastic from prodigy.... the opaque tacky blue plastic that they use for the X1. That stuff is indestructible. I have hit trees throwing a line drive thumber... not even a scuff. I use it for rollers almost every round. I just can't believe how hardy that plastic is.

DX is only cheaper when it ends up being a mold you try once and don't replace, when you're buying 4 or 5 of them over time though, premium plastic is cheaper.

DX has it's place though, I just won't buy it anymore, it's the 2 week sweet spot plastic.

I second that for DX. I just got home from a 2 week trip and played 15 of 16 days in a row. I started with a newish 180 dx Stingray. I live in Florida with mostly open courses and use a Stingray very little. Went up to the mountains and was using the Stingray a LOT. It went from out of the box neutral to so under stable in the 2 week timeframe. Had to release on a hard hyzer to flip into a late fade.

I wish I also brought my star Stingray on that trip as well for shots that required a more level shot off the tee.

I think my favorite plastic at this time would be Gstar. I hit a "first tree off the tee" full blast for the fist time with my Gstar Boss with NO damage.

i will say i have tons more fun throwing base plastics (dx, pro d) because im never too worried about losing them. i have premium discs beat into such sweet spots i dont even throw them for fear of losing them, and thats wack. its totally personal but im sure someone would agree. i often think of just selling my whole collection and bagging all dx and not worry about ****. shank stuff into the woods and just walk away type gangsta ****.

I am liking Big Z plastic atm. The Big Z Buzzz I have has taken a beating and hardly shows any wear at all.

Discraft - Big Z
Trilogy/Lat64 - Opto/Gold Line
Innova - Star. I have a couple champion discs...just don't like the feel of them.

For putters, I have tried about 5 or 6 different brands/plastics. I found the Classic Soft Judge to be my favorite.

Honorable mention. 2014 Ace Race disc. I think that's in a Z plastic...but I really like the feel of it.

just got my first gstar's in the mail today, feels awesome. But right now my favorite is some gold ol' Champion.

What is your favorite plastic?
Regular old D

Or, if you could only throw 1 plastic type the rest of your disc golfing careers, what would it be?
Regular old Z

I guess I'm in the minority but just talking about plastic grip/feel (and ignoring affect on flight because then you'd have to specify which plastic with which mold) my favorite is the Discraft Elite Pro (OOP) followed by Innova's soft Pro blend that is harder to find these days. Latest, greatest plastic is Innova G*. Best durable premium plastic has to be either Latitude Opto or Prodiscus Premium/Ultrium. Favorite putter plastic is Gateway SS.

If I had an unlimited supply to replace whenever necessary...

DX.

Realistically though, I think Innova's Star and Discraft's ESP are probably the best 'all around' mixes out there.

Addressing the original question, I'd say that this hits the nail on the head for me, on all counts. :hfive:

And the Sirius plastic from Millennium is right there for me, too, very much like Star and ESP.

The thing about plastic is, well, Innova and some others will mix specific plastic for certain molds. So to say that champ or star or opto or esp is your favorite plastic doesn't really make total sense.
Firebird champ plastic is not the same as Teebird champ plastic.
Wedge star plastic is not the same as a Sidewinder.
GStar is one plastic that seems fairly consistent, but it's Innova, so it's not likely to stay that way.

I can't name a single plastic blend for everything I throw. I use Pro D for my putter because of the grip and firmness. I use Champion for my Firebirds because I prefer the most OS version of that mold. I use Neutron for my Resistors because that is all that is offered. Depends really on the disc.
