[Recommend] Best disk for overhand distance Drive Tomahawk throws?

For max power max distance shots you just want something very overstable. A really flat overstable max weight opto xXx just took the new official world record. A sure bet is a FAF firebird, and the rim is super comfy in the hook thumb grip.

I know most people on here(including myself) rag on the epic, but if you can get it to do that weird barrel roll and flatten out, they go a long way. One of the local guys uses a DD2 for his monster thumbers.

I throw tons of overhead shora and my weapon of choice is the Ape, it pans slowly, gets very little left or right movement and I can go OH 350+ with my 175 Apes and with a tailwind I carry a 147 blizzard I've thrown around 400.

The Firebird is great, Backdraft and Stiletto are good too.

The Predator is a terrible OH disc IMO because of the rim. It doesn't fit right and comes out of the hand awkwardly for OH. It's almost sharp on your thumb.

XXX or Firebird and you can't go wrong. I habe been messing with a Resistor lately, butmit is les forgiving and needs more wrist snap on release. If you are a beast and habe a great OH throw it has hope.

My favorite OH disc is the Nuke OS - I can make it to / past the basket at 434 feet at local course. Big wide pan and then typically rolls an additional 30-40ft when it lands.

Overhands are a big part of my game and the best I've found for distance are flat firebirds. I know some people get good distance with the Nuke OS but it didn't really work for me. I think the wide rim makes it uncomfortable for me. I've tried many other discs overhand and a flat XXX and the Flick come close to a flat firebird. All of those discs have a low profile. I would recommend trying a flat XXX or the Flick since the flat firebirds are starting to become a little hard to find.

A lot of the over hand guys around here use the epic.

I'll put in another vote for Firebird here. I have two that I use for overhand shots. I like the G* line for overhand throws as the soft plastic blend generally sits down wherever it lands. This is my control driver for hammer throws. As for pure distance, just lighten up. There's no shame in throwing some 150gram plastic. It definitely adds some distance to overhand throws. Best of luck!

I loved my Epic until I hit something hard with it(a chain link fence almost 450 ft away) could get some crazy distance but after the beat in a bit they are so unpredictable it never left the bag.

I'll take an Ape 375 in the middle of the fairway over an Epic 400+ God knows where.

I used the predator for a long time, and lately have been using a XXX.

The XXX is slightly longer, and rolls a touch more predictably. The grip is more comfortable, especially in the cold. I am using a gold line that I want a little beat in. I will eventually pick up a good opto for OH and very overstable shots. The gold line is becoming more and more workable bh and fh now.

The pred was extremely accurate (probably because I thumbed them for 7 or 8 years) and I got used to the sharp edge.

ONE place the Pred is better than the XXX or firebird is the pred tends to get some lift during the flip. Same trajectory and the pred ends up about 10' higher at the apex of the flip. I occasionally throw my XXX too low forgetting I need to start it a touch higher.
