[Innova] Pro plastic

Last year I picked up a Pro Thunderbird, was very impressed, and bagged it for several months. Great disc! I replaced it with a fresh GStar Thundy when it started losing stability. Nothing wrong with it, but at that point it was starting to overlap with my most stable Valk. Cycling Pro Thunderbirds would make a lot of sense, though. I could see myself doing that if I ever improve my form enough so that I don't have to lean on Valks for distance as much.

This was a goof, but I was throwing this a lot early this year:

I was sorting out discs to sell and pulled out a bunch that I had not thrown in a long time to toss around for fun, and this disc bombed. I forget sometimes that when these came out I benched Cyclones and threw KC Pro Cheetahs as my primary drivers for a couple of years. I was having a ton of fun throwing it, so I left it in the bag.

Normally I throw Pro Valkyries on the regular.

Back in the 8x era my bag was 9xKCAviars, ,8KCRocs, 8KCCheetahs, and 8KCBanshees.
It was a very white bag...

I still have a stack of KCCheetahs and KCBanshees and KCRocs. Even some KCCheetahs II.

Around the 9x era the softer KC plastic was similar/became the SE plastics.

All this could be wrong, as the memory of twenty years ago isn't all that great.

So do they only make KCpro Aviars and rocs nowadays? I've only thrown a KC roc a few times and don't really know much about that plastic.

I've felt a Mcpro aviar before and that felt way different than KC. I never really thought about all the different pro plastics there are.

Or am I completely backwards, did SE come out before KC?

I think they really just overlapped.

The SE Gazelles (which seemed more like KC Pro Roc plastic than anything) came out before the KC Pro discs for sure. It seemed like the 7X KC Pro disc came out right after the SE Gazelles, though. Then to my memory the SE discs settled down for a bit while the 8X KC Pros came out, but then the SE stuff started popping up like crazy. I wasn't as plugged in as I would have liked to have been, so maybe I was just catching up to all the SE runs they had. At any rate, '98-'99-'00 was pretty much the time frame for both the 8X-9X KC Pro discs and all those SE discs.

My bag was 9X Aviars/8X Rocs/8X Cheetahs/DX Banshees. The Banshee never got a circle stamp and I thought the star stamp was cool. :| For a long time I had two DX Banshees in the bag, one white and one orange. The orange Banshee stuck out in the bag just a little.

It is now a limited run but still more then players Tour discs now called a Tour series plastic P&A that is the old McPro, enough Pro players wanted to still be able to use the mold. Tour series stamp has the old rings some of the late 1980's to early 1990's Aviar more like the old first ever McPro is like. Want a 3 top, well that can't be found like when the 3 top version of McPro came out from Innova but a limited run KC Pro Aviar 3 is made at about the same time that McBeth left for Discraft.

A McPro ROC is gone.

R-Pro Oddest Pro plastic, it is like JK Pro, without the shine but stiffness is all over the chart for most discs with almost none as stiff as KC Pro and they have some discs in the Stiff like a limited run of Stiff R-Pro Rhyno and a Stiff R-Pro Pig that is the same stuff used 90% of the time for the Wahoo. R-Pro is made for Putters mostly.

Another oddity is that no midrange are made in ordinary Pro or R-Pro now as of Mid 2010's sometime. Both types of Pro got stopped by Innova for the midrange not seeing discs like the Shark or Mako in Pro and I rarely if ever see the R-Pro Skeeter, the only midrange ever made in R-Pro. Also R-Pro Replaced Pro for putter discs.

The Roc+ was R-Pro, so there is another midrange.

You won't regret a pro Wraith. Ever since I've picked one up it has become a staple in my bag.

^^^ This. Pro Wraith is the perfect sorta-OS driver for my noodle arm. Enough gentle turn to get distance, but still finishes with a reliable fade. Mine is 157 and has been in the bag for several months.

I love Pro plastic. Wraiths are great right off the shelf for some hyzer flippy goodness.

Currently am working on an OLF cycle in Standard.

I really, really, really wish Innova would produce a run of Pro Eagles. I'd buy a huge stack of them for a cycle.

Pro Eagles would be pretty sweet! I have a champ Eagle that I've been trying to beat it, but is taking forever.

I also recently found a Pro Boss and have been playing around with that. It's been pretty stable and holds up nicely in a mild headwinds. Curious to see how it bombs when it gets a little more beat it.

I wish Pro Plastic was a bit more consistent. Some is hard and slick, some super grippy/rubbery/bouncy and some is nice and soft/swirly like good star plastic. I've been wanting a nice Pro Teebird for years now... *still waiting

This would be awesome. I lost my good champ one 2 years ago. I have another but they take so long to break in.

I'd really like to try the TL in Pro. It seems to be a popular enough mold, so I keep holding out hope.

I found a teebird-l in pro plastic before in a used bin, so there are some of them out there.

I just saw a Pro Teebird-L up for auction on the innova only FB auction page.

I remember reading somewhere that all Pro Teebirds are Teebird-Ls. And that they're not very good, unfortunately. Those with actual knowledge and experience can confirm or deny.
