American Disc Golf Tour

Odd choice to let one of the top pros who might be playing in your tournament, help design the temporary layout.

You don't think there might be some bias on certain shots/lines?

I mean don't get me wrong, he obviously knows what makes a good course, but he's not a professional designer.

Feldberg designed at least one course in Oregon that were used for Worlds. Wasn't he upset when they made changes while he was away?

Temp vs permanent is different, as you've mentioned.

Filobedo's been there, I haven't, but my understanding is that it has a good bit of elevation, water, tall trees and perhaps semi-wooded areas. Otherwise, good ingredients, if done right. I'm not a golfer, but Cobblestone's very highly regarded by those I know. It's not a dumpy municipal or blue-collar course looking for extra revenue by installing baskets, like some disc-golf-on-a-golf-course arrangements. I also believe it has 27 holes, 3 9-hole loops; speculation is that they'll use one of these, which would free the other 18 for golfers. But that's just speculation; we locals are as out of the loop as anyone.

Hopefully they play the Black nine (you can see several holes when traveling south on I-77 this time of year near Blythewood exit) as I remember this was my favorite out of the Garnet 9 and whatever the other was named. Lot's of elevation and one of the par threes is super elevated downward from tee to green with lots of water and one of my favorite holes ever. I have a cousin and uncle who live there and are members at Spring Valley, Forest Lake and Wildewood and think Cobblestone is the best club in the area.

We can't even discus who's signed up because they won't post a registered players list...

I still do not understand why this is an issue? If you have signed up and it is not reflected on the site, contact the TD. How many PGA tour events (other than majors) out of the 40 or so run each year do you think announce the field prior to 3 days before the event starts?

Not a fair question. How many other disc golf events show who has signed up: the answer is nearly all of them. There are a lot of things they could do to a disc golf event to make it more professional. Hiding who is (or, in this case, who is NOT) playing is not one of those things.

So ricky wysocki sees a possible way to be top dog and make most of the cash?

Lat 64 approval?

Did barry schultz agree to play?

I think they might pull this off?

Any PDGA event, you can see who's signed up right after they sign up. Take the Battle at the Bon next weekend...

If that's not far enough ahead for you, here's on later in Jan, one person's signed up right now, and you can see he's registered.

Any or all of the following---

---It's not the PGA.
---By tradition, disc golf tournaments publish their entries, almost immediately.
---Some players make their registration decisions based on who else is coming, so it's good practice to publish it.
---Critics here would like to gleefully mock the low registration numbers.
---The ADGT said they would. They said they'd publish it after the 45-day period. And in late December. Now they won't, and detractors see it as a trend.

Take your pick. Personally, I wouldn't expect a big registration this far in advance, so I think it's a non-issue. But the way they're handling it, is just more fuel for the skeptics.

And just to add, an NT event, such as what ADGT boasts theirs will be like...

It's not so much that they're "hiding" the list, it's that many of us call BS that they even have a reputable list of participants as they've claimed, and since they said they would release the list by now, yet haven't...just raises even more questions.

Blue Lake. He was upset they didn't clear the greens enough.

What a change in mood last 24 hours has made! Little bit of news about two real names visiting, and we say this might work!

I don't necessarily think that Barry and Ricky are pushing their chips all in about this particular tour, but when you are looking to make a living like this, there's no reason to turn down a big potential event.

Who knows, the other two tours are pretty much Innova/DiscMania for DGWT and then all the other companies for DGPT. Maybe they won't get all the big names at this event this year and even more opportunity to win the money.

Ultimately, I am leery of this tournament not because of the people running it, but more of the rules/standards they are beginning. Purposefully cutting out the PDGA and adopting new standards for disc requirements etc. will take a lot of time and add a lot of confusion that I think is unnecessary.

We shouldn't kid ourselves because this is a very young sport and there is lots of room in the early days to play around with things, often times with rival groups having their own standards, tournaments, and championships. Over time the good ideas stay the bad ideas get dropped and usually coalesce back into one governing body (at least within each country or region)

In the moment it's hard to like the fact that there is this confusion and perceived in-fighting, but from the big scheme of things it's good in theory to try new things to see if they work.

They're going to pull something off. They have a venue and a video coverage platform (and company). The question is, will they see any returns on the amount of money they're undoubtedly putting into this venture? My guess is no.

They might pull something off. On the other hand, if registration is very low, at some point they might pull the plug (and blame us).

I would be interested to know if Ricky W. (and whoever else was on that trip) were given Comp (free) registration.
The more I think about it, why wouldn't I play and talk up an event if my registration was free?

If i was their sponsor i wouldnt allow my players to compete in events which were going against the current governing body of the sport.

I dont even see why top pros honestly would be interested in something like this.

I agree. I'm curious if the pdga is going to say anything, even if unofficial to their top pros. It's like any other sport, there are restrictions in leagues you play in.
