The Inevitable 2016 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

I noticed dana was the Illinois representative for the new disc golf park company.

my first two thoughts were :

is this going to rub his current sponsors the wrong way working for jussi's company?

is discmania grooming him for sponsorship?

I'm no longer with Prodigy and at the moment unsponsored. In regards to Discmania, I do love the PD!

....

Dana Vicich is leaving Prodigy, it collided with him being a representative for DiscGolfPark US. He has no new sponsor, watch the latest Smashboxx podcast for source.

I just like reading all the back patting they do on Facebook over it. They're so proud of swaying the vote.

I could be WAY off, but Dana strikes me as the kind of player that any company would want to have as a representative...not just a player. The kind if person who helps grow the game and not just the brand i.e. Feldberg and Shusterick.

I don't really see how that's news or a surprise. She's been carrying the prodigy bag for at least a year,

The interesting part is the thing about disc manufacturers forcing their players to use their own backpacks. That´s something I haven´t heard about before.

I don't think this is really true.
McBeth - Grip
Feldberg/Wysocki - Spinal Tap
Doss - Grip
Climo/Barsby - Upper Park

I don't see Innova forcing their top players to give up their bag sponsorships with the new backpack they have out.

About the only company I see with players strictly carrying their branded bag is Prodigy, but Cale pulls a cart most of the time, so...???

Oh, absolutely. There was no judgment in there at all. Just observation.

Just messing with you. I honestly don't remember if there is anything in our contract preventing us from having outside bag sponsors. I'm pretty sure Maria Oliva (young up and coming FPO from Texas) is sponsored by both Prodigy and a bag company.

Not entirely true. I can only speak for Latitude, but we are only required to carry their bag if we don't have a contract with someone else (as Ricky and Dave do with Voodoo, for example). I would guess that's the case with other companies as well.

I don't think a disc manufacturer can force a player to cancel or turn down a bag contract with a non-disc-manufacturer company. If all they do is bags (or apparel), there's not really a conflict of interest. What the disc manufacturers can do, however, is incentivize carrying their bag enough so that it's a better deal than going with the outside company.

I doubt salient would want him ;)
