[Innova] Val Jenkins 4x signature Starfire

What's a starfire? Seriously, they should have done the TL, Avery with teebird and Val with teebird l would have been clever and cool.

But, big congrats to her and her achievement.

Cool. I do wish it was the Tern, but I think the Starfire is one she's been using a long time, so it makes sense. I just doubt I would ever buy one, but I buy Terns all the time..

She's been throwing the same Starfire for years. Lots of people are going to wonder why theirs are fading so fast.

Starfire used to be my go-to FH driver for years. Solid disc.

I really liked my DX Starfire. Straight with a fade drop at the end. I've been looking for a replacement since it has beat in and lost it's fade. Maybe the Val Star Starfire mold will come in 150 class which I would prefer.

Yeah me too. Kinda looking forward to trying this out again. Then I will have the limited tour series 4x SL and the production run Starfire. Which is sorta neat.

I hope they can come up with a cool stamp for the production run Starfire. But they will probably just do the same old vanilla stiff they do for KC, AJ and McBeast. Hoping for something more but not holding my breath.

I love Star Starfires.

I'm going to take out my Thunderbird and put my marbled Star SF back in.

What's a starfire?

Lol! You mean the tremendous, classic stable driver that the current world champion has been throwing for centuries?

The Starfire is a work-horse for me but I throw Champion plastic Starfires, not Star. I hope the Val sig Starfire is a big hit. Good on her.

Love me some Starfires. A better Thunderbird.

Funny, but I kind of feel the opposite. I think the Thunderbird is a better Starfire (or PD is a better Starfire, take your pic). The Starfire is more solidly overstable and thus gets less distance for me than a Thunderbird. However, it's not overstable enough to put it into a real utility role like a Firebird. I'd say the Starfire would be good as a headwind Thunderbird, but a fresh DX Thunderbird fills that role quite nicely for me. I don't think the Starfire is a bad mold, I just think there are better alternatives for everything it does, namely Thunderbird, PD, and Firebird.

Do they still make Starfires? I don't know anyone who throws them. Can't say I recall seeing any in the various shops that I've been to. (Granted, I wasn't really looking for one because it's a Starfire)

It might be fair to say that the Starfire is a better all around FH disc than the Thundie. The Thunderchicken is a good disc for FH but is more sensitive to torque and thus can be a little unpredictable with release errors and wind. IMHO, the Starfire is a MUCH more reliable FH disc. Probably even more so than the PD without having to venture into full on Firebird/Felon territory. I've tried out a QOLF 1.4 in this FH slot and for me, I get too much turn from the QOLF. Not that it couldn't work but... Not my ideal cup of tea either.

I went back and read an old thread from '10-'11 and remembered all the praise that people used to sing on this mold as a go to FH disc.

Looking forward to seeing how these Val signature discs come out and as a FH dominant player, I'll definitely be giving it a go.

Ps- I have been busy moving this last week back to Seattle and I still haven't had a chance to field test my 2 new Val Star SLs. I'm chomping at the bit to see how they fly.

Yes they do. All of the major online retailers keep them in stock in a variety of plastic types.

I throw 80% FH and have had bagged a Starfire for years. Great disc in the woods. S turns.

I've ordered a couple of Val 4x SLs from the Proshop. Only way to get Star SLs these days.

As to the sig disc, the dealer page shows it to be a standard Star Starfire stamp with her sig, just like the AJ or McBeast Destroyer.

I was being facetious. I know they still make them. I also have never purchased a disc online so I don't pay attention to what those sites have for sale. My point is that the Starfire is a fairly obscure disc these days. Just because they are available doesn't mean that many people are looking for them.
