[Other] Kastaplast Falk

I'll take a profile picture later when I get home. It is almost identical to a Bandit with a very similar bottom wing and identical plh and everything. I also hear the Viking comparison as far as design goes. It also has a similar shape.

A little better after a lunch field work session. Definitely some big distance potential on this one, if you can keep it in the air without it turning off into Narnia...

Had some serious winds blowing this morning (Nate residuals) and I had the day off so figured was a good opportunity to throw ridiculous shots I would rarely even consider throwing. Result...first time I have thrown something over 400' and actually landed within 20' off a point target. Falk absolutely bombed in these tailwinds. Between the Falk and my Alphas I have zero need for a distance driver at my arm speed. Love this disc usually for hyzers flip to late turnovers and rollers but definitely discovered another use this morning.

I tried a couple of Kastaplast Falks when they came out, but did not really click with them.
Infinite Discs has the Falk listed as about the same stability as a Valkyrie, but I found it to have more turn. I would not categorize it as super flippy, but it is not far from it. I am not the sort to carry lots of understable discs, but I often carry one or two Lat64 Mauls for specialty situations requiring a flippy disc, and am sort of sentimentally attached to them. Mauls are just very comfortable to hold, in my opinion. The Falk would have to kick the Mauls out. I love the Kastaplast Kaxe, and wanted to like the Falk also.

I'm liking the Mongoose in Icon for more turn and Legend for more straight. It just responds more predictably for me than the Falk. The Falk is sick when I hit it just right, but I'm having a hard time dialing it in. Sometimes it flips severly and other times it goes straight. I'm sure it's my own unclean hands but its as touchy as a hangry teenager who needs a snickers bar and a nap.

I can not disagree with this. This is the first mold I have bagged where there is such a fine line between it flying great and flying the equivalent of me punting a crispy dog turd down the fairway. Tonight was a perfect example...throw it hyzer about 8 o'clock release at about 80% it flips up flat turns all the way over and I park a nice little l-r guarded dogleg. 5 holes later I believe I throw it the same way, flips to flat, then apparently it gets sleepy and just starts fading out for no apparent reason.

So remarkably frustrating and I will admit I should probably take it out of my bag. But when this thing does what I want it to do it is so great that I can't give up on it yet.

I know, there are those occasional shots with the Falk that make you think you've just seen Elvis or something. I totally get it. It's the kind of disc that is remarkably good at teasing me into thinking that someday I too might be able to tame the wild pony.... But then it bucks me off again and again and I have to wipe the mudd off my seat. Haha. It's a fun disc if nothing else. The kind of disc that can make even your most macho friends squeal with delight when it goes good and even your squarest of friends laugh with aplomb when it all goes horribly wrong. Every teeshot is a knee knocking, adrenaline filled adventure. Like a gambler down to his last chips going all in on a hard eight. Will I be a hero, or will I be the zero?

What's not to love about it?

I pickex up a glow K1 at 171g today. It was super windy today, but I could still throw this disc. Like the Comet and Mantis, I think this disc rewards a clean release. Even in a headwind, it drifted into the turn and did not burn.
I am thinking that this may kick the Hachet out of my bag...but fieldwork on a calm day will be required first

For me, I definitely understand the Hatchet comparison, however, the K1 plastic completely wins the battle. The glows are great, but grab an opaque K1 Falk and you will fall in love. :D

I have thrown a first run. Very nice. The glow is a touch more stable...which I am OK with.
K1 plastic is by far my favorite plastic currently on the market.

K1 is the best premium driver plastic IMO. The grip and comfort of Star types and the durability of Champ. I prefer the Opaque but both are great.

I field tested the Glow Falk versus the VIP Hatchet.
The Flak is a bit more stable yet has more glide. Only one time did I get the hatchet to outdrive the Falk and that was the one time I threw the Falk nose up.
The K1 is better in every way to the VIP plastic. The Falk is in the bag

The Falk is out of the bag. It was in the 70s today and the K1 was way too soft. This is not the K1 of my Rask, Kaxe and Grim. This is more like the junk that this other Swedish company makes.
It was fine as long as it was below 60...sigh.
The rim of the disc was actully bowing in my hand...usless except in the winter.
Kastaplast, please dont turn into Latitude 64. DX is better than anything they have....and I hate DX.

One can see how the disc has bowed around my thumb.

This is the first Euro company I've wanted to try out in awhile, especially the Falk (as a Valkyrie thrower).

So, I have thrown a mint first run and my glow. The mint was firmer than my glow by a large margin. How firm are the regular K1's?
If I can only throw this disc in the winter, I will probably move on to a different mold.
The Hatchet is out as well, too soft.

What's the stability like on these? Does it vary by weight, glow vs none glow?

I was waiting fir someone else to reply that may have thrown more Falks than me. I test threw a mint green K1 first run last fall. It had more glide and a little less stability than the glow.
Thrown flat, the mint would turn gently then flatten out with the fade not kicking in to the end of the flight.
It had more glide than any Valk I have seen, and more distance. The flight path was similar to an Inertia, but slower.
The glow is pretty darn straight but with more fade and less glide...as per most glow molds. I would say somewhere in between a Valk and a Volt.

Take notice that I have never thrown both back to back, so my memory could not be perfect.

Inertia like? That really sounds tasty. Might look into a glow if I need more stability.
