Pro Tour Live Coverage

I saw in the shadows that at least one of the cameras has a monopod attached, and yet on a static shot where one just sets up and frames the action, it's still shaky. How is this happening?

They could be a different frame rates than the stream. This could cause a effect like that, but I'm not watching the stream right now.

I just flipped on the coverage, just because your camera can zoom 300ft doesn't mean you should. They are zooming too much and that causes the lightest of movements to look like a earthquake. I think that is the problem.

But it´s not just shaky. .. it´s strange angles, bad zoom work. . bad placement and missed shots. . .on one hole PP was putting and the cameraman filmed the sky and you could see PP putt in the corner out of focus

I'm all in favor of forcing people to learn to shoot on a prime lens, then letting them have zoom once they've shown they can hold the camera steadily and frame a shot properly. Maybe we can make it a law. :D

I'll put this here, instead of the tournament thread. Hopefully, that page can stay a discussion about play and the tournament. We can have this thread for the public desecration of Steve Dodge.

Shrug......I missed the earlier portions of the live coverage. According to the posts, it sounds like it was a travesty, that was an affront to all mankind. I think live coverage kind of sucks no matter what, but the coverage I am watch now, is good. Camera work is decent, the commentary is palatable and the graphic are simple and effective. Whatever the issues earlier, they seem to have worked them out.

aaaaand then the camera's cut out as the FPO feature card is finishing their round. Of Course. Maybe Nate and Val can iron that sheet or find a plain white one between now and the MPO coverage. No backdrop is better than a bed sheet, lol.

Live coverage was only okay to begin with, but this wasn't a great first impression. I imagine that the audience would be a little more forgiving of the DGPT's first attempt at live coverage if they hadn't forced out people who knew what they were doing in order to cut costs.

I used to have a buddy in college that I helped with filming (Huge YouTube channel) and he would put tape over the zoom button when I first started helping him. He would always say "This is the the foolproof way to get a good shot" always calling me the fool. He wasn't wrong btw.

They got it together pretty good at the end before they lost cameras on 18. Not sure what that was about. Finally had course audio and commentary audio together, which was a positive. Camera work got a little better throughout the round. Less shaky cam would be great, as would less putts without the basket in frame.

It sounds like the stream crashed midway through due to Youtube problems, not DGPT livestream problems. Really bad timing on that as Disc Golf Guy/CCDG/Jomez supporters were all kind of watching this with expectations of sheet show. As someone who always found Live Coverage to be boring to the point of almost unwatchable (definitely worse enough to be worth waiting for post-produced), I'm not sure how much worse this was than what we are used to minus the technical difficulties. DGPT certainly hasn't given us anything revolutionary here.

I'm actually more concerned about the post-produced coverage as that's what I'll actually watch most tournaments. CCDG and Jomez have set a high bar. Today's production does not inspire confidence that the DGPT will match what other companies offer.

Dodge continues to think he is smarter than everyone and usually ends up busting. From Vibram to the 420 disc to now this, it's only a matter of time before DGPT becomes the next thing that he backs away from.

I don't know Dodge, so I cannot speak as to what he thinks. But, it is always good to have someone be the voice of pooping all over everything. Would not be the interwebz without it.

I would have zero issues with the coverage issues if there wasn't the approach of I don't need Terry or anyone else, I can do this.

It's too early to say if this is a total bust or not. Overall, the DGPT has been very good the past couple of years. Turning on the beloved media companies was a gamble for sure. Still too early to call it a complete bust. Still too early to say that this is the death of the DGPT. It's been a tumultuous offseason/beginning of season for the DGPT. They have time to recover and save it. They can scramble a par out of this.

He strikes me as someone who is bad at delegating. Tries to do too much himself and then it bites him.

Reminds me a lot of the Fyre Festival. Just someone who thinks they can do it all and truly has no idea what they are getting in to.
