DGPT: 2020 The Preserve Championship July 3-5

Having played for about 5 straight days in the heat, a bit of a sore elbow and a hangover, all have me staying home watching this live coverage. Great strides in the quality of coverage.

Agreed, they're really doing a good job on the live coverage, cutting to the FPO card as the Men walk up the fairway, or using the split screen.

Simon's drive on #14 was freakin' obscene.

I would hate to be on a card with nikko. Such a cry baby bitch

Playing with Nikko really tests his cardmates' focus and mental game. Most players don't get in your head quite the same way.

You could even make a case that Emerson Keith had an advantage not playing on Nikko's card.

You gotta give Nikko credit for fighting off the competition, and sticking that putt...

even if he didn't realize it was for the win.
Lol.

Did anyone else notice how long Nikko's routine was for some of his putts? Felt like a long time to me...

He did seem a bit fidgity lining up his putts down the stretch. Pressure can do that. Guess he needed that time to make sure he was good between the ears.

When all is said and done, all that matters is, How many, not how.

He habitually violates the spirit of the rule but the rule is written in such a way as to be 100% unenforceable in addition to the fact that players in general aren't so big on enforcing what they consider no blood no foul rules.

45 seconds on the winning putt btw.

I've liked Nikki since I started watching about ten years ago. Sure, I don't approve of some of his behavior. Sure, I would like him to pick up the pace while putting. But he was very quick on his drives. Maybe he saved as much extra time on the tee as he used while putting. :D

In any case, I'm very happy for him. He was very nice to my daughter and me when we met him at Worlds in 2015.

It was looking sketchy for a while, but he drilled that final putt and the nerves had to be through the roof. Congrats!

Unless there's a distraction 30 secs is from when you get to your lie no?

He was well over a minute on half his putts this round. I understand why other players don't want to be the one calling it, it's not fun to be that guy and it can get you out of focus even more than waiting for his shots. He already throws enough tantrums, imagine if someone calls a fault on him. At least this tournament, on his drives and upshots he was quicker.

Anyway it doesn't really matter, Nikko surely realized that if you can call an obvious foot fault and nobody seconds it, why bother with the rules that can be interpreted. I think other than a falling putt, an aggressive outburst against another player or braking equipment nothing are getting called.

Fierce Pierce's 3rd shot on 18 was basically a victory lap.
Totally dominating the rest of FPO field.

Wasn't there a video of someone calling Nikko on a foot fault while putting? Can't remember who(feels like Barry Schultz, but not sure), just remember him making the putt again and going off in Nikko fashion.

Unless the conditions were very different, there's no way the round rating for a 56 from the MPO tees should be that close to the rating of a 56 from the FPO tees. All that additional distance has to account for more than 7 rating points.

Player ratings have alot to do with it.

Quite possibly the most exciting back 9 of disc golf I have ever watched live...course I have only been watching for 1 year...:)

One of the random thoughts I had over the course of the final round is that this tournament was comparable to restrictor plate NASCAR racing. Because you didn't have to do anything phenomenal to birdie any of the holes, that put a limit on how big an advantage any player could give himself over the field, which bunches most of the field up. And that leads to exciting finishes.
