[Vs.] The Immortal Molds

Anyone with over (~50?) posts (to avoid silly games) just list the 5 molds you consider to be the best molds ever made.

When I think about it, the 50 post limit thing is dumb since there might be lurkers and so on that might feel unfairly snubbed. It's not like there's a hoard of frothing bots and trolls at the gates.

So, 49 posts. :D

j/k I'm a dork. Errbody get up in here!!

Wouldn't an immortal mold still be in use today? So like an XD wouldn't be immortal in my opinion. The Roc fits this perfectly. It has been a staple disc for a long time and always considered one of the best midranges. Buzzz may fit as well, although not quite as well as the Roc. The Destroyer is still broadly bagged, same with Teebirds and Firebirds. Zone probably fits in as well. For whatever reason the Discraft equivalents usually fall short though; does anyone throw a Force or Predator nowadays? They used to be ubiquitous but now rare. As much as I want the Comet to be immortal, how many comets do you really run into in the wild?

For putters, Wiz and Aviar count. Discraft doesn't have an immortal putter, magnets lost their mojo a long time ago. Challengers could have made it but fall a bit short.

Up and comers would be the MVP lineup, Envy in particular. Not immortal yet, but I think they will be there with time.

I see anything on the list as one that is relatively old, so none of the myriad of new molds that have come out recently make the cut, even if there are good, don't make the cut. This is going to mirror what most others have said:

1. Aviar
2. Roc
3. Teebird
4. Eagle
5. Firebird
6. Valkyrie
7. Destroyer
8. Buzzz
9. Comet
10. Wizard

1) Leopard
2) Firebird or any of the Innova 'birds
3) Buzzz of any type
4) any Wizard like putter
5) Destroyer
6) Undertaker
7) Pig
8) Berg
9).......Ultrastar ;)

9).......Ultrastar ;)

Woah yes, good pick, the Ultrastar is THE immortal disc, it is the only disc you think of when you think Ultimate even though Innova won the official disc rights for MLU. Interesting nugget from the MLU wiki:

From the desk of Dave Dunipace said:
While most Ultimate games use the Ultrastar disc, the MLU used a slightly different disc, the Innova Pulsar, whose design made it stay in the air longer, leading to more hucks, deep games, and skys

I love some Millennium molds, but as far as immortal molds, I'd say look no further than Philo's bag:

Classic Aviar
Rancho Roc
Teebird
Firebird
Destroyer

"Immortal" Molds? My thought was those would be discs they've been making for quite some time already (established track record and in consistent demand), which it's hard to imagine the manufacturer ever "disc"ontinuing. I threw Frisbees forty years ago and have only thrown golf discs for a decade, but (even though I only bag 4 of these myself) I can't see any reason to ever stop manufacturing Aviars, Zones, Comets, Buzzzes or Teebirds.

Well all the normal stuff is covered, innova has the strongest history and like someone said discraft has come up short many times by comparison or marketing. Here's some outliers

PD
FD
Berg
Stag
Wasp
Birdie
MD4
Gumbputt
Aero even though it's oop lots of good years on it.
Cyclone same^

Being a gyro pusher I think mvp/ axiom are poised to create some molds of note that will last.
Ion
Envy
Relay
Volt

Reactor is my best "maybe" guess.

Longshot: fireball/inertia/insanity/ entropy/tesla but someone will have to make a great shot with them in a pro tourney etc and MVP needs more fans for them to stick around.

And I think Whitler, it's an old Irwin mold, re-branded by snap, I don't know how it's future looks and not a lot of people have em but if it's been around for 30+ yrs I think it's a cult outlier.
