2022 LWS Open @ Idlewild (Idlewild Open) July 8-10, 2022

You've got to stop and play there. I'm no tournament player either but Idlewild truly isn't as tough as it seems. I mean sure it's a tough course but the fun factor and the fact that it's absolutely gorgeous helps to balance it all out. I played there on a random Tuesday morning in late October and there were tons of people out playing. But we didn't have any issues at all and it was one of the most memorable rounds I've ever played. I even got a couple of birdies!

Sweet! For sure I'll play one round while I'm out that way. I'll probably play extra safe on a couple of water carry holes, but I've played enough tight/thick woods holes so the Idlewild woods don't look so intimidating. I can't throw far enough to get into as much trouble as pros on bad kicks.

Saw on FB the park guy (director?) said they are permanent.

I'm a bit sad to see the DisCatchers go, but knowing Boone Co. Parks, they likely have a plan for them. Whether they go to a whole new course, or they're used to replace old, dilapidated baskets at other courses I'm sure they'll be put to good use.

I'll be out first thing in the morning live scoring with one of the FPO cards, then score a MPO card in the afternoon. You gonna be out there at all Dan?

Also note, on the water holes (Pro tour holes 2, 4, and 5 this year) there are either alternate pads or pins so you don't have to water carry. 2 has a pin in the landing zone short of the water, 4 & 5 have a short pad to avoid the water. Several holes actually have short pads or baskets.

Watching this and seeing the players struggle i´m starting to appreciate last weeks courses even more. .

ONE player under par and alot of players in the dubble digit over par after just one round

Natalie and Hailey both DNFeng after 7 holes?
Then Des finishing 18 and DNFeng?
How does that work?

Playing a wet course has got to increase likelihood of some sort of footing issue, resulting in a strain or pull, or even a slip and fall deal.

Whatever happened, I hope Hailey can recover quickly. Would really like to see her, Val, Paige, Kat, and Cat battling for the win and podium spots over the next few events. They all seem poised to get some wins, along with Ella, Missy, and Maria.

At this point, any one of them, winning any event, really shouldn't surprise anyone. Nice to see FPO so competitive, with so many players with a legit shot at a win. Ohn's been tearing it up lately, too.

Take this with a grain, but Natalie reportedly was unprepared for rain and lost too many discs :|

No need to take it with a grain, from her instagram:

oday is the first time I've dropped an event without getting injured. My mental health has been suffering and I've needed time off to get better for quite a while. This time was a bit different than what I'm used to though, I don't feel 'present' during anything I'm doing. In my absent-minded stupor I left my umbrella and extra towels behind and completely forgot that it was going to rain. The instant the rain started my mistake dawned on me, I couldn't get my hand dry. 7 strokes and a lost disc later my mental health fell off a cliff. Disc Golf used to help me get past alot of these feelings but it's actively causing them now so I just can't justify continuing. I was never planning on heading to Europe this year so this couldn't have happened at a better time. I've overcome this before, hopefully I can do it again.

I'm sorry to beat a dead horse, but good lord what is going on with Kona? Currently in 40th at Idlewild? I tried to to let it go and not comment after her horrendous showing at the USDGC, but how in the world is she proving to be worth $500k?

Hard break for Macie, just one of the lead but still misses the lead card. . i guess most player have a lead card bonus?

Good round from Alexis to beat her sister by 9 throws

If you were truly sorry, you'd have put the club down long ago. Christ, just get over it already, would you?

There's soooo much more to talk about. How about some of the women who ARE playing great, or the changes they made to the course?

Or did you plunk down a boatload of cash on Kona to win a DGPT event this year, and yer just buttsore she's not coming through for you?

She is laying an egg out there for sure.

It is fun to watch Isaac Robinson tear the place up today. Chris Dickerson is tearing it up also. I really enjoy watching technical disc golf like this.

Coverage has been sketchy in spots, especially in regards to sound, but seems like they resolved some of the issues today.

Robinson's certainly putting his name on the map as of late. The last few months, he's been on moar lead cards than McBeth.
