ok so I have been "really" playing disc golf for the past year and a half and am getting better. I can throw my mids around 300' and max out around 385' with my wraith. I also just throw it hyzer long and striaght and curves at the end. I am getting a destroyer in a few days because like I said I feel I have maxed my wraith out.

SO..my question would be, have you all seen people throw it and it starts off hyzer than dead flat straightens out and then starts to hyzer again. How do you throw that shot? understable or overstable. how do you let it go hyzer straight or anny??
Or should i just stick to my regular hyzer shot or something?

we call that the "hyzer flip".

typically thrown with a lighter or more understable mold. put a ton of hyzer angle at release and a lot of snap and it will flatten out and go far.

try a katana.

I'm a bit confused. How is the shot you perform different from the one you want to perform? They sound like they both start hyzer, flip to flat and then fade at the end.

my wraith almost stays straight the whole time if you know what I mean. it wont do this "hyzer flip thing" thati want it to do. Like I said it maxs out around 385' and I am looking for more distance and I have seen people throw it like that and park a 405' basket consistently, while I'm having a 35' putt for bird at best.

try a katana. its like a faster, more understable wraith.

You are describing a hyzer-flip flight pattern, typically thrown with an understable disc with hyzer. How much hyzer depends on disc stability, how beat the disc, disc weight, and how much power you throw with. 385' is far from maxing out a Wraith, some people throw Rocs and Buzzzs 400'. You might get a Destroyer a few feet further, with a little less control. I'd work on form some more with putters, mids and fairway drivers.

Did someone say Hyzer Flip???

:) :) :)

anyway... Sidewinder should work perfectly... A star Sidewinder is one of my favorite discs for hyzerflips whether you want them to just flip up flat or even turn. I also like throwing leapords on Hyzerflips for tunnel shots and tighter fairways.

sounds like you have only "maxed out" your hyzer with that wraith. do you need a hyzer that flies farther than that? if so, you could try a faster disc. if not, you should be able to throw it on an anny line and get an extra 30-50 feet out of it. hyzers and hyzer flips are nice for tight fairways or for getting around obstacles, but real disctance comes with the anhyzer. maybe you already knew this, but it didn't sound that way from what you posted...

if your wraith is not turning much you have not maxed out that disc!

Hyzer flip a Valkyrie. I find it does not hyzer flip and turnover like a Roadrunner or Sidewinder does.

try a flex shot with an overstable disc (wraith and destroyer are not overstable)

a flex shot is when you throw an overstable disc with a little an-hyzer , i would suggest a starfire , teerex, or maybe even a teebird

So you can throw a Starfire further than a Wraith or Destroyer with a Flex shot? Maybe I just don't understand the Starfire, but that disc has the least amount of glide of pretty much any distance driver I've ever thrown. And I love Teebirds, but they are definitely not a flex shot disc for me.

less glide means it cuts through the wind better (less drag and also reaches its peak height more towards the end of it flight instead of in the middle) so under most conditions and wind directions yes i can throw a starfire further with more accuracy.

for me the trick of getting good d out of a starfire is to keep it really low and start off with a little anny. I use the teebird for flex shots but not for distance , i use it for its abbility to come back early when thrown with alot of anny when thrown around 300ft or less.

if i was throwing in a distance comp. i woulndt throw a starfire , to me its like using my 3wood instead of the driver , you get a much straighter line the ball stays low out of the wind and you dont lose much distance. My longest throws ever have probally come with an orc
