You've never heard of Mahatma Gandhi?

My pacifist days ended when some transphobic bigot put me in the hospital. Turning the other cheek only gets you a second black eye, when hateful people are being aggressive about their disgust.

Sounds like that's the same sentiment that Ghandi's wife would have.

Maybe Shallows does, since Shallows said Natalie is, and I quote:

Natalie has bravely been quite public about the challenges of her dysphoria as well as the excessive amounts of medication the PDGA requires her to take to stay compliant with their restrictive guidelines.

Gandhi also said, "An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind."

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."—Martin Luther King Jr. , Hero of Civil Rights Movement

"They are going to burn with me."—-Natalie Ryan, heroine of DGCR posters who enjoy banning anyone who disagrees with them.

Have you actually read about the Civil Rights Movement?

She had a previous post about the initial judgement and a match and burning, so clearly referencing that with context.

I didn't see that, but I think it is consistent with my point.

She was commenting hyperbolically to say she will continue her fight. Eek fight!

It's difficult to be concise without invoking words that reflect violence. Regardless, nobody said they think Natalie has violent intentions. Why? Because everyone knows that is not what she meant.

People also quote Gandhi, MLK, and the like to suggest we should be model, polite, (read: quiet) activists - all the while ignoring their numerous, and deep flaws as people.

I at least own my catty nature, and embrace my lack of desire to placate others (albeit in a more diplomatic way than some who take up the torch of activism), when injustice has been done.

If we're using quotes from the past, there's an old Chinese poem that I keep pinned on my Instagram, to explain why I'm an activist:

"For ten years I have been polishing this sword;
Its frosty edge has never been put to the test.
Now I am holding it and showing it to you, sir:
Is there anyone suffering from injustice?"

- Jia Dao, "The Swordsman"

(Oh no! It mentions a sword! Clutch your pearls! Wring your hands!)

I don't know what cishet is, you use it here like we should know.

Either way, if you can take off your filters for one second, maybe you could see that we don't approve of anyone using threatening language. I for one don't approve of anyone disrespecting anyone else. You don't have to disparage us by using one of your many slang words that you use to try and marginalize us.

Let me repeat, I will never approve of anyone threatening anyone, and I'm glad she had the decency to take it off her Insta. Yet you folks insist on defending it, or at the very least acting as apologists for her threatening words.

Not everything can be or should be defined in terms of victimhood.

Yes we can see that Natalie was obviously frustrated and feeling put upon for showing up at a tourney, playing one round and then being told to go home.

BUT it can be argued that she should have known that this was a likely or at least possible outcome and been prepared for this contingency. It's an unfortunate outcome of dealing with our legal system.

Have you ever been in a situation where hundreds (probably, definitely, many more) strangers are angry at you for existing?

I'm not talking about words you post on a forum.

I'm talking about just being a human in this world.

No. I hope that is not what is going on here, at least not in this forum. People for the most part are sticking to the court case, and not bringing it to a personal level.

But I stand by my words that I will never agree with the use of inflammatory language or threats, even if thinly veiled and spoken out of frustration.

It was good to see Paige Pierce get back on track, and the MPO competition is amazingly entertaining. Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow! Life goes on.

There are Facebook groups and people (similar Westboro Baptist) showing up to protest Natalie during the event.

You are taking issue with what Natalie said in a vacuum. If you were aware of the big picture of what is happening, I doubt you would bother commenting. Ie, you are focusing on the narrative that "they" want you to focus on.
