I'd like to take a dg trip....

These are in PA?....

Yep. They are in the Pittsburgh area. Both are true destination courses. Very balanced and gorgeous. I drive from Columbus, Ohio to play them. Click on Deer Lakes on the front page top ten. You can easily map the destination from you location using the built in google maps feature.

in PA that ive played: deer lakes (ranked in dgcr top 10), nockamixon, little lehigh, jordan creek. i'm just not sure what is near for the fam.

If there's that many courses. They can chill at a hotel

I've seen nockamixon on youtube I think lol. Think thats our destination boys. At least for our first trip

nockamixon is tough! i really struggled with that course.

mall of america in minneapolis...there is good golf there from what i hear

Now that could be a fun guerrilla round, maybe even incorporate the ropes course and some of the rides... There is a store with a decent selection of discs, "Air Traffic," They're all overpriced though.

Easy! Come south. Fly to Charlotte. It has a great downtown with good restaurants, bars and even some cool small museums for your wife and kids. Then you can sneak out with some of the most mellow cats in DG for rounds at Renny, Nevin, Gaston, Elon, Eastway, Sugaw, Hornet's Nest and many others. If you have enough days you can head north to a bunch of cool courses in Raleigh. You can head to the mountains for some classics like Sugaree, or go farther south to Stoney Hill. If you guys get to Raleigh I'll cook some b'cue pork for you, and you might just get to meet the infamous Frankd and others. Down in Crowntown you get a ton of good players, like bikinjack and chain addicted and other great people. NC and possibly some of Sc can fill up a few weeks for you. Plus we have good beer and barbecue. It is a perfect world for DG!

Yeah! We'd welcome you in SC. Gotta bring some more Daredevil discs, though. ;)

Luv it!

The avg American's geography knowledge is abysmal! Thankfully I have lived a few places so I am .00001 % better than most. Thank you Public Gov't Run School System. Thanks for the map!! Sad, funny, useful.

For Pittsburgh-area courses, Moraine State Park and Deer Lakes are both elite championship courses. Moraine State Park is a big state park with biking, hiking, and a big lake with swimming near the disc golf course. Deer Lakes has a nice playground and even a mini water park. Seven Springs Mountain Resort is a little over an hour east of Pittsburgh, has a great ski-hill disc golf course, and of course has more resort-type amenities with awesome state parks nearby.

And, Pittsburgh has a dozen or so really neat museums and sports and cultural attractions that have continued to impress me since I moved here 1.5 years ago.

Nockamixon is a good course, and there are a few other decent courses nearby. But it ain't NC. Not even close.

Now that sounds amazing! That would be a trip I could see myself doing in the future. Thanks for the kind words sloppy, I may just take ya up on that.

That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks vslaugh. Those links help a lot. Within the next couple weeks we're gonna start planning. Love this site.....

If you feel like coming more south for warmer weather, look into the northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area. You've got Idlewild and Lincoln Ridge on the Kentucky side (with the Florence Mall/Y'all in between for the rest of your family) and Mt. Airy on the Cincinnati side. There are plenty of other courses in this area but those are the big three. In the drive down, you've got the courses used in last year's AM Worlds in mid-Ohio, the Brent Hambrick course in Columbus and a few other worthwhile stops just outside the Cincy area (Monroe Community, Turtlecreek and the course on Miami University in Oxford). Good planning could see you hit all or most of these courses. Good luck and safe travels.

Eastern pa gives you nockamixon ,tyler, jordan and little lehigh , while the wife and kids can do dorney park , explore philly(an hour away)

I will second weeman's recommendation on the Cincinnati area. Besides the great courses he's mentioned, there is a lot for the family to do along the interstates (I-71 and I-75) that are very convenient to the courses. King's Island (20 miles north of downtown Cincinnati) is one of the top amusement parks in the country, and the Cincinnati Zoo (which is five minutes from Mt. Airy) is world class. Shopping is pretty strong too, with a giant new outlet mall close to several nice courses.

Don't know what part of Ontario you are from, but if you are close to the Toronto or London areas it's a relatively easy drive. I used to travel to Toronto a lot for business and made the trip by car a couple of times.

I've made the trip to Pittsburgh to play the top courses there and they are fantastic, but I think Cincy has the edge in convenience and family activities. Of course, this is a completely unbiased opinion...

And, if you'd like someone to play the courses with while you're here I'd be happy to oblige.
