Midrange advice needed!

As mentioned the element X has been discontinued. The warrior replaced it and I actually prefer the new warrior anyway. I have one in clear evolution plastic and it is very grippy, durable and a straight flyer with a consitant left finish for RHBH throws. If you like the spider you will like it.

WOW, thanks for all the information so far. From what everyone has said I think I will give 180g a try! Sounds like they are more controllable and can be thrown harder and hold a straight line, or hold a hyzer line when desired. I wasn't aware of the Element X being discontinued and thank everyone who has let me know :) I am now planning on getting the new Gateway Warrior in E plastic.....i think.....but whatever I decide on will be 180g for sure. BTW, I have never tried anything Gateway before and have always been interested.

I kinda like the feel of the clear E, but what I had forgotten was how hard they are to find. I threw one on a blind hole and looked for it for 20 minutes. It was only two feet into some overgrowth, not really in a bad spot at all. I just could not see that darn thing. Some color would really have helped.

Which has nothing to do with the weight of mid-range golf discs, but oh well.

Roc and Buzzz is probably going to be the most suggested. Both are great disc and I would reccomend trying them.

I just bought a RED Gateway Warrior in clear E plastic (180g) Can't wait to try it out!

You will like it. Very grippy, not a ton of glide and very controllable. Very easy to park this disc.

I throw a 180 warrior s. and love it. I am a forehand golfer, but have recently begun working on my backhand, and today in fact threw my warrior predominantly. I was hitting 220+ feet (which I know is nothing to brag about, but for my backhand, quite an improvement, let me tell ya) consistently in a straight line. Very meager fade when thrown flat. I recommend it (and this is from a guy who doesn't throw 600 feet, ever), both for flight and dependability.

You might be pleasantly surprised with the Ace Race2008/Nebula. I have a 172gr one and it flies very straight with a slight fade at the end.

On the very first post you said you had a spider for 2 years, then it started getting flippy on you? What plastic was it?...If it was DX, then the disc you had was too beat in. You could also go and try to get a new spider in champion plastic. There is also the cro, which is VERY similar to the spider, and they make that in star plastic, which feels a lot like dx plastic, but holds up much longer. As stated on here earlier, just about everyone will say Roc is the way to go, just giving you other options!

Gateway Element, in about 172 grams. So straight it's hard to remember not to play for the usual fade

I carry 3 midranges.

Roc -for when I need to fade left at the end

Star Coyote- pretty much dead straight, but will turn left or right if you need it to.

Stratus- Under-stable mid-range for mid shots that need to drift off to the right.

I may have to try the Star version again. I invested in a couple DX ones and had been flipping them over so much that they worked their way out of my bag.... Too much overlap with my Star Shark.

ERic

I may have said this in another thread, but the mid range disc that I reach for the most is my Star Skeeter at 172g. I can make that thing go straighter than straight. I can turn it left, I can turn it right. I could use it to take someone out in a fight. It is a little flimsy for my like, and there are times I'd like to sell it to my friend Mike.

Are there any thoughts out there on the Kite and the Cro? Those are the other two mid range discs that I think I would like in my bag.

You might want to try a Champ Coyote Eric. They are more overstable than the star and dx. They are harder to turn over.

The kite was appealing to me before I learned the proper ways to throw anhyzers. It's really a garbage disc once you grow out of it.

I highly recommend the Cro. If you aren't a Roc person and like the bigger feel of a Cro or Spider, it would be a good disc for you. It's a little overstable. It will fly sraight with a little fade at the end and it makes for good turnover shot if you fore it anny and it's even good for forearm drives.

Kite sucks
Cro and Spider = great choice

Ive heard that the Kite is a very nice anny disc. My buddy Ninja Tom bought one a few months ago, and he's a big fan of it for those right turns

i got a 175 cro and it is a straight disc that will turn corners or just go straight depending on how ya throw it. the kite is very very understable
