    Scorekeeping app with customizable ratings?

Hi Chevis, It could certainly be done.. the trick would be trying to determine, on average, what impact each level of wind (DGCR uses 'None', 'Calm', 'Moderate', and 'Strong'). would have on the SSA. Ideally, we'd need a sampling of 'real' SSA data that could be matched up with the various wind...

    Scorekeeping app with customizable ratings?

It is actually possible to get the DGCR SSA formula adjusted, if you know that the SSA estimates it produces are off compared to 'real' SSA data. Basically, the way the system works, it (only) looks at the course foliage factor (lightly wooded, moderately wooded, and heavily wooded) and hole...

    Issues Report Thread

The scorebook (player rating and course average rating) doesn't seem to be calculating things correctly anymore. My DGCR player rating just dropped over 90 points since Saturday, so something is clearly amiss in how the system is (now) calculating player ratings. I helped design that system, so...

HOD 6/4/2023: Stewart Pond Hole #12 Eugene, OR

Here's a picture of what the short (A) pin position looks like:

HOD 6/4/2023: Stewart Pond Hole #12 Eugene, OR

*lol* I wasn't sure if I would live to the day when my own course came up for the HOD! This picture was from the very early days of the course. The little stump right off the tee has been ground down, and the big trees out on the hole have filled out a ton (i.e. there is no way to go around to...

HOD 4/26/23 - Camp Tadmor IN Lebanon, OR - #11

Camp Tadmor is a fun course! It's definitely a hidden gem of Oregon, with some pretty technical (heavily wooded) holes. Pars are red level though (i.e. set very soft). This particular hole is basically a straight shot, but throwing over a little hill/crest in the middle of the fairway. I think I...

    2023 Tim Selinkse Masters

Is anyone out there on DGCR coming into town for the 2023 Tim Selinske Masters event? I will be one of the course directors for the event, and would be happy to give anyone a tour (or at least info/details) of the courses!

    New from Southern Oregon

Welcome to the site. Sadly there aren't too many Oregon disc golfers active here on DGCR much anymore. If you're ever up in the Eugene, OR area, though, I'd be happy to play a round with you!

    Hole and Course Performance Statistics

It was very interesting to see that local maximum at ~3.22! Just as a general design guideline, I've always assumed it to be roughly 3.3, so it's nice to have solid data suggesting it might really need to be a little lower than that. On the topic of this: .. I think one big challenge for...

Where are you going in 2023?

If you do come to Eugene, I'll pretty likely be helping run the event, and I'd be happy to give you a course tour! They're still deciding on which courses to use for the event, but it *might* include the course in Eugene I designed too. ;)

    Hole Layout - Distance Question

The second throw I think does need some consideration too, as fairway 'drives' are going to be shorter than tee shots (potentially by up to 20%). Compared to tee throw distances, for example, the close range par guidelines suggest that a blue-level player may only be accurate at up to 270ft. for...

    Hole Layout - Distance Question

I generally like using the "CR Par" (Close Range Par) guidelines around drive distances, which suggest that a blue-level (950-rated) player will generally be accurate at up to 340ft. (and can potentially push beyond that, but with reduced accuracy), and a white-level player will generally be...

PDGA Division Changes for 2023 Announced

Yes, they didn't change the actual requirements for playing in Amateur divisions as a registered Amateur, just the requirements for still being able to play in Amateur divisions if the player is registered as a Professional.

Posting player entry fee breakdown: PDGA requirements?

The only thing like that in the Competition Manual is the requirement (if there are more than two total rounds) to post the payouts: Competition Manual 1.10 D: Events with more than two rounds must post payout (including all added cash) prior to the start of the last round. Personally, I also...

HOD 9/13/2022: Alton Baker Park Hole #9 Eugene, OR

The hole images no longer match up with the hole numbers (the course was re-ordered, and old hole 3 became new hole 1), so those distances aren't correct for the hole. Here's the correct distances: Pin Position A: 183 ft (3) Pin Position B: 252 ft (3) Pin Position C: 229 ft (3) All three are...

HOD 8/24/2022: Riverbend DGC Hole #16 Estacada, OR

My very favorite course! Milo is phenomenal, and very rightly ranked as the #1 course in Oregon. :D From the long tee, for this hole, when the grass is short I usually try a lefty backhand roller. Otherwise, I'm throwing a Nuke on a turnover line and just playing for a 3.

    Nonmember Ratings

You can do that here in DGCR. :D Just enter rounds using the scorebook here, and the 'Scratch Score Estimate (SSE)' feature will calculate round and player ratings for you. ;)

    2022 Great Lakes Open

I agree, by my interpretation what Gannon did wasn't 'wrong' precisely. After establishing his lie (which should have been on the ground under the bag), had he not been able to find the owner of the bag (or that person didn't want to move it?), the "lie in a solid obstacle" rules definitely...

    2022 Great Lakes Open

If the rock were "part of the course", no, you couldn't move it. You also would treat being on top of the rock as the "playing surface". But with a case like this, the bag is neither "part of the course", nor should it be the playing surface. In my mind, the 'correct' way to play this would...

    2022 Great Lakes Open

Anyone else see the Gannon Buhr "play from a spectator's bag" throw? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNLft4XduTU Apparently the ruling was that he *could* play from behind the bag if he wanted to (and chose not to), but I'm confused why moving the bag wasn't the correct answer to this one...
