On Sept 20th the Ausable Chasm tourist attraction (a 2 mile long, 150 deep, narrow sandstone gorge) in the Adirondacks of NY will host the 3rd annual "Steady" Ed Safari. This tournament, sponsored by DGA, is guaranteed to be like nothing you have ever experienced before...unless you have played a tournament in which you threw discs off 100 ft cliffs, over whitewater rapids, into baskets perched under towering rock formations, in which a raft guide ferrys you across the river and kayakers fetch your floating discs. DGA sponsors the event and allows the use of "Steady" Ed's name (and discs) because this event truly embraces Ed's motto of "the most fun wins" as it focuses on a fun atmosphere more than a competitive tournament.

Read Rattling Chains blog post from last year for a great description of the event:

Sound awesome! Is there video?

the last link in OP is a short vid. I'm trying to dig up more. I ran the event the first 2 years but moved away last fall and lost a lot of pics and vids on my old computer. The new Rec Director decided to keep the event going but had his hands full and got a late start with promotion and registration. Hoping he gets a good turn out.

This does sound awesome. Too bad I don't live in NJ anymore. O wait, that's ok with me.

What a fun looking deal. Would be worth planning a vacation around this.
Reminds of a somewhat similar event that Davey Mac, from Gateway used to run. I would have to dig around to post some info on that one; and I don't think it exists any more. But, he ran a somewhat similar, and crazy safari tourney for a few years, that I made it my business to try and find my way to play it. However, I was not successful.

Yeah, I could see myself planning for this one year. Definitely looks Sick! There must be more video! 2 10 second clips of all that epicness, c'mon.

The people up top are on the tee for the basket in the foreground

Hmm, I remember reading about this earlier in the year and I knew it looked fun..Google Maps says $409 to fly there round trip or $245.67 in gas and nearly 16 hours on the road..I could make this happen if I'd had 2 more weeks notice :-/

This event is definately on my DG Bucket List so I hope it is a success this year so I can make plans to attend next year.

DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO OCTOBER 4th!!!

Some conflicts prompted a late date change, but it should be for the better...sandtiger you got your 2 extra week wish!
