how are you going to figure out who the "best" unsponsored player is"
there are plenty of good local players here in mn that dont play tournys. how are we going to judge that?
Me if we are talking intermediate. I am the best 904 rated player within a quarter mile radius of my house.
Elmexdela are you pdga current?
Seems the easiest way to figure this out is look at the highest rated players by state, filter out those that have sponsors, and boom, you have the best unsponsored players in each state.
IMO, if you don't play tournaments, particularly PDGA events, you can't really make any claims to be the best of anything.
How do you filter by sponsors? A lot of people get sponsorships from local apparel and disc golf shops...including private courses. I think at Am Nats I was like the only one I played with with no type of sponsorship... There are a lot of 960 rated players out there with some level of sponsorship. You dont have to be listed on the Innova website to get some form of payment help or free merch from a local establishment.
Shane Seal from MS is still sitting on his 1040 rating based on two rounds in 2011. Unlikely he's sponsored.
Yep. He has no PDGA rated rounds since 2011. So he's perhaps more of a paid rep for Discraft in MS than a sponsored touring pro. This Shane Seal?
