Disc Golf Pet Peeves -

The thing that bugs me the most are the alcoholics that can't make it through a round of Disc Golf with out a beer and leave their empties at the tee pads. Especially when there is a big sign at the entrance of the park "No Alcohol".

If your "Disease" gives you the energy to tote around beer on ice the least you can do is tote your trash out with you.

Being alcoholic and being lazy are two totally different things. And if you truly look at the symptoms it looks like any other life threatening disease as well.

My pet peeve is ignorance.

Lets see first off I agree that if a dog is non responsive and does not obey the owner then the dog does not need to be there.

My dog a trained bomb detection black lab doesn't have that problem. I pick up after her if she does go. She gets the exercise that she needs when I get out there. One GOOD reason is that why not kill two birds with two stones.

I can also refute everyone of your reasons why she shouldn't be there and so can a lot of other people that bring their dogs. First one...the so called distractions having them will make you a better player. I pick up her crap. O did I mention she is a trained bomb detection dog which means she listens.

is she on a leash?
I want a drug dog. That probably wouldn't go over well at most courses.
Your argument that she is a bomb dog is irrelevant to the fact that she listens, you have a rare dog compared to all that I've seen on the course, there are a few exceptions to the rule, you have one it sounds like.

At my course she is not but she stays right near me and not many people play DG in our small town. When I go to other courses she is on the leash that is always attached to my bag.

HAHA ya a drug dog and disc golf doesn't really go hand in hand.

Alternate holes during prime playing hours. The entire course has to stop while a group of 4 play back and forth across the golf course. Which extends 30 peoples game by 30 mins so four can play the alts.

That is the big one that bugs me. I do not mind the herd as I will just play around them or skip a hole.

Cheers - Koffee

I've only seen "safari" once, some guy was doing this.. I can see where it would be seriously annoying if it was a group on a busy course.

distractions? fear of attack? feces? the list goes on!

A better question is; Why do you think your dog SHOULD be on the course? I can name 30 different reasons as to why your dog should be left at home, but can you tell me one GOOD reason why you need the dog there while playing the sport? Does he give you disc selection tips? Can he judge distances effectively? Does he carry your discs? I don't ever recall seeing Phil Mickelson walking down a fairway with his dog following him. If its companionship you are seeking, there are many walking trails and dog parks around designed specifically for pets and owners, however the discgolf courses were designed specifically for disc golfers.

Well, lets see here. I would say that more than 80% of DGC's are situated on "Public Parks". Which are generally "Multi-Use" So the precept of not wanting to allow dogs on these grounds is ridiculous to say the least.

And what about the "Morons" who play the sport and lug around their coolers full of beer. But are to lazy or "Stupid" to carry the empties out?

That is my "BIGGEST" peeve on the courses.

Oh, and by the way. Where are you Thirty Reasons?

People leaving their beers on tees with garbages right next to them bother me more than dogs do, leashed or not.

I would rather my disc hit an empty can than land in a pile of shat.

But both drive me crazy.

My disc golf pet peeve?

Injuries. My knees have been bugging me since trudging through the snow all winter, and just won't seem to get completely better. Of course I won't stop playing to give them a break.

Last week I strained a muscle on the backside of my shoulder which prevents me from throwing righty. Even RHFH. Yesterday it was 45 degrees, windy, and pouring rain steadily. So what did I do?

Lefty round at Ellison. Never tried it before, but threw 15 over and was pretty happy with that. Was absolutely throwing better at the end, and learned quite a bit in one round.

did you putt righty? because whenever I try to use my off hand, I cant putt for

Only inside ten feet. Any distance hurt my shoulder, so just my tap ins really.

It was honestly like being born again. Despite my best efforts my first shot nosed up and hyzered 40 feet down the fairway, wobbling the whole way. I looked like a complete n00b with waaaaayyy too nice of a bag! Luckily the rain kept any witnesses away! Strangely I found it entertaining, and even parked one hole!

Hope this gets better soon! Gots me a tourney comin' up.

What is something that really bugs you on the course?

Talkers?
Music?
Non-Serious players?
Solo Players?
Groups that are too big?
Ungroomed / Manicured Courses?
Beer Bottles?
Psycho Rabid Rodents?

1. Groups that are too large taking too long and not letting people play through, but this is rare.
2. Beer bottles and cigarette butts. This is much more common.
3. Fairways with weeds so long it takes ten minutes to find a disc. This is becoming more of an issue with the rain and cutting city budgets.

Psycho rabbit rodents would make the local course a LOT more interesting, which could never be considered a bad thing.

Trying to explain what it is like to bring life into this world to someone that hasn't experienced it themselves is a very difficult thing to do. It's kind of like trying to describe the ocean to someone who has never seen it before. Yea, it's water, alot of water, no bigger than that... Tough to do.

I'm not going to get backup on this site, because the average discgolf player and user on here is early 20's and single (college age). Someone that age has no clue what half of life is all about. Their life consists of what are we doing today, and what do you want to eat? Your whole world is about this big * and it's all about you. As you get older, more things become part of your life and you grow. At least if you are lucky you do.

Doing drugs in front of someone else's kids should probably get you an a$$-whooping. If you can't understand that, then maybe you could relate to a perv sitting beside your mom and granny while looking at porn. It is that offensive to me as a father. It is my biggest pet peeve on the disc golf course, and that is what this thread is supposed to be about. You morons that want to argue the legality of drug use have completely missed the point. I don't care how you decide to waste your life, I'm not your dad, but you're not going to do that crap around my kids without hearing about it. I didn't mean to hijack this thread, so I'll let it be. My appologies to the OP.

F off.

I agree that doing drugs in front of kids isn't cool AT ALL. I got your side/point. But they are just chilling and you came into that. They didn't show up at your backyard birthday party and roll a J with one of the party napkins. Now, maybe there is a better place to go...I am courteous if I decide to do certain things...Even if I crack a beer I make sure that I'm not being a jerk of some sort. I do care about kids and families and would never act like a fool just because I'm young.
Please don't come in all condescending to someone who doesn't have a child or is in college. Really. Just assuming a bunch of people act and think a certain way because of their age? WEAK....super weak. That means 'That is really uncool'. Which means 'I do not appreciate this type of behavior sir. Which can be confused with F off. ;)

ps: Who hasn't seen a large body of water before? An Ocean, a big lake... a sea. It's water. a Lot. Most people can imagine what that would look like even if they have never really seen an ocean. Also...pictures.

In a public park, most likely.

Private property.

Now, maybe there is a better place to go...

Yeah, there is. AT HOME! There is no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public area. If you're toking on the back 9 in the thickest, deepest part of woods on the course, there's still no guarantee that my son won't throw his forehand 2 fairways over and land under the bush you're hiding behind. Yeah, I'm going to be the first one there and I'll tell him to stay back. All I'm saying is that no matter how careful you think you're being, the potential still exists to be seen by anyone.

I personally don't care what you do with your body, most of the peeps I play with blaze and I don't care that they do. I just won't bring my kids if I'm shooting with my buds (no pun intended :D)

LoL at above posts,

what bugs me is when someone tells me what I can do to make my technique better when they are playing just as good/bad as I am. I work on my game on and off the course, on and off the field, and a little bit of internet.

Unless you are out driving me, making better approaches and more putts I don't wanna hear it.
