For some historical perspective, and by the way, your opinion matters, about ten years ago, when the PDGA still had a Discussion Board, they decided to make it members only. First, they lost some of the politer, and more informed voices. Second, it was the beginning of the end of that medium. I'm a big believer in non-exclusivity. Especially since the non-members pay to play. I don't join the PDGA to get privledges, I'm a Kennedy fan. I joined to help the sport. I've gotten tired of the what are you going to do for me attitude that Reagan ushered in.
