Looking to move somewhere near the end of the year that supports year-round disc golf. This means good climate and good courses. I am not particular to region, would just like to avoid deserts mainly. Forests and mountains are good :)

Any suggestions?

Define "good climate". How hot and sticky do you like your summers? How much cold is still playable in winter? For you.

Here are climate stats for some cities. These are arranged in order by an "index" formula I created from the stats. You may want to create your own index formula based on whatever you feel is important (i.e. some people don't mind excessive heat, some don't mind wind, etc.).

90+, 32-, and Precip are number of days per year. Snow is inches per year. Wind is avg mph.

Right now, while much of the country is dealing with brutal cold, it's easy to look to warm weather climates as great DG destinations. But keep in mind that winter warmth generally also comes with stifling summer heat.

I think Charlotte is a great year round destination. The courses are phenomenal and the weather isn't too extreme on either side.

Thinking of the Florida thing myself.....I was down there a month ago and it was 75-85 everyday, damn near perfect, while the rest of the country was cold and snowy. Sure, the summers are long and hot but its worth it while your rocking shorts and a tshirt in January. Lots of good disc'n down there as well. you get a lot of bang for buck in real estate as well

It definitely depends on your cold weather capability. I think Wisconsin is good year round, save for unusually brutal weather, like we're getting now. I'm rock solid playing down to 20º...I was playing in a sweatshirt and wind pants this last weekend at 30º, so to me, that's year around playability. Plus, it's usually hovering around 80º during summer, which is perfect summer discing weather. I couldn't even fathom playing in DFW or something like that where it's 105º.

Disc golf is one of the few all weather, 24-hour outdoor sports so there's no reason to limit areas to southern U.S.

Places in Wisconsin such as Milwaukee, Madison, La Crosse, and Green Bay average 150 days with lows below 32, with 120 days of precip and 45 inches of snow. But yeah, only 10 days or so over 90, if that's your thing.

It's infrequent for Charlotte to have days below freezing, but I played this weekend when it was 28 degrees. Nightime lows and mornings during the winter are frequently below 32. Summers can be bad. Two or three years ago we had almost 2 weeks straight where the highs were over or close to 100, but that was unusual. Low to mid 90s for a high isn't uncommon, but you can always play in the morning to avoid the worst of it. Also humid during the summer.

Avoid Michigan. It is ridiculously cold and miserable here, and I'm not even talking about winter.

Like I said, 32º is a great day for discing, in my opinion. Where did you get those stats, btw? They all seem awfully high...

also, 40" of annual snowfall.

I don't mind cold so much it's the snow that sucks. I hate heat and humidity though too. Gives me an idea, Albuquerque might not be bad. How is the disc golf there though?

Climatology normals from the National Weather Service.
Code:
90+	32-	Precip	Snow	Wind	City
6	161	121	47.7	9.9	GREEN BAY, WI
17	149	114	43	8.9	LA CROSSE, WI
11	159	120	44.1	9.6	MADISON, WI
9	136	125	47.3	11.5	MILWAUKEE, WI

Or, as an EXAMPLE, go to Milwaukee's wikipedia page to verify those numbers are realistic:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milwaukee#Climate
It says:
9 days per year over 90
49.9 inches of snow
126.7 avg precip days
so I'm confident the numbers are reasonably close for those 4 cities.

I realize you don't live in any of those cities, so we're not talking exact to your specific situation here. You said "Wisconsin", so I'm just generalizing.

Ahh...that makes more sense...it's days that it gets below 32, with low temps considered, which are almost always at night. I missed that part of the original post. Of course, a low of 32 usually means a high of about 45-50 which is magnificent throwing weather.

For reference, I live about halfway between Milwaukee and Green Bay.
