Has Anyone Bagged All The Courses In Your State?

best part is

I've played 20 of 50 here in VA. I'd like to play every course within a two-hour radius, but I don't have the goal of playing every course in the state. I only manage one or two VA DG road trips per year, and I'd rather play the elite courses multiple times then some mediocre course three+ hours away.

What's sad is there are two (somewhat) local courses I haven't even played yet... Soon, though, soon.

The best part is from richmond most of the state is with in a couple hours, and most of the better courses, sadly imo one of the better ones, emory and henry college is so far out there i'm not likely to play it again. And you shouldn't have a excuse not to play white bank now because it finally got 9 baskets. And for more incentive you should make it out sunday for the tournament.

Okay so I got a little bored again and decided to throw up current DG courses by state based on the DGCR search engine. Here are your results from highest to lowest. This may help with the great state race. Enjoy!

1. Texas - 190 (Everything's bigger in Texas!)
2. California - 145
3. Iowa - 140 (That's right people - Iowa)
4. Wisconsin - 136
5. Minnesota - 135
6. Illinois - 126
7. Michigan - 115 (At least the unemployed can enjoy an array of disc golf!)
8. Ohio - 95
9. North Carolina - 93
10. Colorado - 89
11. Kansas - 77 (Go Jayhawks!)
12. Pennsylvania - 74
13. Florida - 62
14. Oregon - 60
15. Kentucky - 58
16. Indiana - 57
17. Missouri - 54
18. Oklahoma - 53
19. Georgia - 51
20. Virginia - 50
21. Tennessee - 46
22. Washington - 45
23. New York - 43 (TIE)
23. Nebraska - 43 (TIE)
25. Mississippi - 39 (TIE)
25. South Carolina - 39 (TIE)
27. South Dakota - 36
28. Idaho! - 32
29. Alabama - 31
30. Montana - 30
31. Maine - 29
32. Arizona - 26
33. North Dakota - 25
34. New Mexico - 24 (We're gaining on you Arizona!)
35. Louisiana - 21
36. Arkansas - 20
37. Maryland - 19
38. Massachusetts - 18
39. Wyoming - 17 (TIE) (Yeah, Wyoming's not last in something! Eat it Utah.)
39. Utah - 17 (TIE)
41. Alaska - 16 (Yes, we count too.)
42. New Jersey - 14 (TIE) (But first in murder rates J )
42. West Virginia - 14 (TIE)
44. New Hampshire - 12 (TIE)
44. Connecticut - 12 (TIE)
46. Delaware - 11
47. Nevada - 9 (So much land, so little disc golf)
48. Vermont - 7
49. Hawaii - 6
50. Rhode Island -2 (Well, what did you expect???)

However, even though Texas wins in sheer number - one could also look at the fact that Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois combined are about the size of Texas. This means that their 537 total kicks Texas out of the water, but then again at least you can disc golf in Texas in the winter. :)

but then again at least you can disc golf in Texas in the winter. :)

We New Yorkers can play all winter as well. Just need to have a set and not be afraid of the cold. Woohoo snow golf! Thanks for the list now I have a great goal. 9 out of 43 played in NY.

I have a couple of friends that will have played all in Tennessee by the end of the summer. That's not too shabby....but then again they are teacher's and have a lot of "free time".

Don't get mad teachers. I respect you greatly. I am just jealous of summer vacation.

I started playing in April of last year and have bagged 33 out of 115 here in Michigan. I think it's reasonable to assume that I'll bag every course in the state by Dec 31, 2010. Well, now that I think about it, maybe it isn't reasonable... there will probably be 150 courses in the state by then.

Here's another list - (yeah, like you thought I was done yet…) you could also factor the state population by the number of courses, so if you want to see how many people are in your state per DG course - here is your list ordered least to greatest based on 2008 numbers taken from Wikipedia.

In the words of Michael Scott, "And since anyone can do stuff on Wikipedia, you know it's going to be accurate."

1. Iowa - 21,446
2. South Dakota - 22,338
3. North Dakota - 25,659 (So close to finally being better than South Dakota!)
4. Wyoming - 31,333 (Yes, in the top 5! Again, eat it Utah)
5. Montana - 32,248
6. Kansas - 36,391
7. Minnesota - 38,669
8. Wisconsin - 41,382
9. Nebraska - 41,475
10. Alaska - 42,893
11. Maine - 45,395
12. Idaho - 47,619
13. Vermont - 51,772
14. Colorado - 55,499
15. Oregon - 63,167
16. Oklahoma - 68,723
17. Kentucky - 73,607

47. Massachusetts - 360,998
48. New York - 453,262
49. Rhode Island - 525,394 (Think how this will jump when the third course is built!)
50. New Jersey - 620,190 (Again, always happy to bring up the rear. Really, I mean you couldn't beat a state with 2 courses??? Sad day Jersey, sad day.)

As always these numbers are indisputable fact and simply cannot be debated on threat of death.

Just kidding - I was just hoping 80States would read that part. :) Seriously though - makes you want to move to Iowa - well maybe…

Also, back to the Great Lake States versus Texas battle in my previous post - here are the new results:
Texas - 128,036
Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois - 49,818
A solid victory again even though Illinois weighed it down a bit.

Isn't Michigan a Great Lakes State? We're surrounded on 3 sides by water! :)

ahh come on - everyone loves a little joke. And I'd like to think I have fun equally, but thanks for thinking of me! ;)

You're a New Yorker right? Good thing you're not from Jersey, or you'd really be mad at me!

Have a good one! :)

Hey! Turns out you're funny too. Actually, I'm originally a Wyoming man - but I guess that Full Metal Jacket joke could be used there also...or there's always a good sheep date night joke...can't forget that one. :)
