Has anyone left a discatcher sport basket outside in the backyard, specifically during rain? how do they hold up as far as rust goes?

I have mine in the backyard and am too lazy to put it in the garage. Im curious if anyone else leaves theirs outside exposed to the elements and how it holds up and if anyone has had theirs rust. mine has been outside for a few weeks now and no signs of rust yet....

Heres a link for reference on which model im talking about.
i know the description says not for permanant outdoor installation.

Been outside for months, just fine.

Even the pros rust over time, just part of the process. Bang Some chains!

Mine has been outside for over a year in western Washington
The top yellow part has started to fade, and a little rust is showing up.
But that's to be expected, if you are worried about it, don't leave it out.

im not too concerned about it, i just didnt know if it would turn completly to rust on the basket portion. seems like it will be fine.

thanks for the input guys

Put one of these over the basket to keep snow/rain/dew off of the basket and dramatically extending the life of the basket.

BBQ Grill Cover = Basket Cover

Just adding to the idea above. Looks like I was not the first the think of this.
I just got a bbq grill cover at Wal-Mart that could just as easily have been made for a basket cover.

Only $10.

Fits my Discatcher Sport perfectly, and I would expect it to fit all baskets.
It has 4 good velcro straps at the bottom that easily attach to the bottom of the tray.
First day on my basket we got a big storm and lots of wind. Cover stayed on tight, and basket was protected from rain (future rust).

Any brand cover of this type/shape would probably work. I considered one with a draw string cinch at the bottom which might stay on better, but I went with the cheapest option.

So now all you need is to protect the pole and base from rust, just get some Galvanizing compound spray if you plan to keep basket outside in winter/rain season.

Mine has been outside for 9 years uncovered, and is still in good shape. A little rust on the chains and some on the pole where the disc has hit it alot.

See a lot a rust on any sport basket left outside around here. Idk if it's the proximity to the ocean and all the humidity.

My buddy bought one and within 3 months it was pretty rusted up.
