Jussi Situation

Or back home to Finland where his WIFE is....

In fact if he would have bought services of an escort/prostitute in Finland, he would not have been committing a crime, IF the sex worker works for herself (or himself). Meaning that there is no pimp or trafficking issues surrounding this scenario. It is legal to work as a sex worker and buy services of a sex worker in Finland, if one works for oneself. It is also not allowed to advertize your services. But in Sweden it is prohibited by law also in these situations and buying sex is always a crime there.

So we propably would not have this thread if Jussi had done this in his home country. And no one would have stopped buying DM discs due to Jussi's personal life and choices.

I don't agree with what he did. I just want to point out what the difference is between Nordic countries in this matter. There is most likely lots of personal choices that you favorite disc golfer or head of your most favorite brand have made and you would not agree with, but you will never know them. We all have skeletons in our closets - some have bigger and some have smaller.

Glad it's not my problem. He better sleep with one eye open with the wife around.

It just tells me he's bad with money. He's going to pay for sex one way or the other. So, he chooses to pay a hooker, AND pay for what he has at home (which may not be paying dividends). The one at home is way more expensive and could break him financially.

Maybe he budgeted for all of this.

"He does not write in detail what the matter was about, but HBL has previously reported on the case, which thus concerns the purchase of a Ukrainian woman in Sweden.

Stockholm police Simon Häggström warned in the article that the very largest part of the Ukrainian women on the sex market in the Nordics are currently victims of organized pimp networks, and that the majority of them are ordinary women who have been forced into prostitution because of the ongoing war."

"Let he who is without sin, throw the first stone."

Jussi owned up to his mistake/issue/problem/conviction publicly.
He didn't soft-sell it or excuse it or minimize it.

If anything, I admire his candor and owning the responsibility.
For me: Nothing to see here. Move along.

OTOH, he is a public figure and the discussion/debate/moralizing is to be expected and endured.

Maybe I'm missing something.
I get that it's illegal in most countries, but....

As long as booker was a legal adult, participating that occupation of their own free will, and no assault, battery, or rape occurred...

I see Jussi hiring a hooker as an issue between him, his family, and the hooker.

I know you all have been waiting anxiously for my take so here it is.

I personally have zero issue with this, be it with another man or woman. However, he is being charged with a crime and admitted guilt, so he definitely needs to serve some penalty under the player conduct rules. One week suspension should be sufficient.

Last played a sanctioned event in 2015.

Waiting on McBeth's statement outlining how she paid him.

Yep. This thread is full of people who will likely refuse to acknowledge that many of the people who "work" in that industry are forced to do so.

I don't really understand the point of your comment. The existence of human sex trafficking does not de-legitimize consensual sex work. Slaves exist all over the world. They make iPhones. Does that mean nobody should be allowed to make iPhones?

This person COULD have been a sex slave, or they could have been a legitimate self directed sex worker. Who knows. Making blanket comments like yours is derogatory to all the people that choose this of their own free will.

In this instance, it seems more likely than normal that this could be the case. At least that is according to the police.

In the context of me buying discs or rooting for pro players, I don't care.

I'm also betting that there are [people everywhere] that have likely paid for sex illegally.

Yeah, I can't say this is important to me. I feel sorry for his wife, but otherwise this is none of my business.

I'm a little more disappointed by the people condemning him, but that is the world we live in. Everyone has a keyboard, so everyone thinks their opinion matters.

So, wait, are you saying that it is not true that many of the people who "work" in that industry are forced to do so?

If not, how is pointing that out derogatory to anyone - and, particularly, more derogatory than acknowledging that the person "COULD have been a sex slave"? Or is it, to you, easier to attack a person than than it is to construct a cogent argument.

Or they could have been a law enforcement/vice officer running a sting.

Ok but how will this affect Discmania's legacy?
