Redesigned 21-hole Disc Golf Course at Lakewood/Dry Gulch Park
DENVER, CO *— Monday, May 6, 2013 — The disc golf course at Lakewood/Dry Gulch Park is now open for play. The course was closed in 2009 for the construction of the RTD West Rail Line along Lakewood/Dry Gulch Park. The new course is a fun and challenging to play with 21 holes, an increase from the original 18-hole course. Players will find that several holes have been re-designed to provide a more positive play experience near the rail line.
Three holes are currently closed for re-vegetation and will be open later this summer. The newly designed course starts near the parking lot at Paco Sanchez Park on N. Knox Ct. and W. 13th Ave., and runs from Federal Blvd. to N. Wolff St. along the Lakewood/Dry Gulch Park. A course map is located on-site near the first tee.
Friday, April 26, marked the opening of the RTD West Rail Line which began operating as the W line. It is the first completed rail line of the RTD FasTracks Project, eight months ahead of schedule. The 12.1 miles of light rail runs between Denver Union Station and Jefferson County Government, Golden Station.
FasTracks is RTD's voter-approved transit expansion program to build 122 miles of commuter rail and light rail, 18 miles of bus rapid transit service, add 21,000 new parking spaces, redevelop Denver Union Stat ion and redirect bus service to better connect the eight-county District.
