Kenwood Klassic first event was Aug 1977 so this year was 37th.

Are you sure? 3 years in the 70s with 77-79, 10 years in the 80s wi 80-89, 10 in the 90s with 90-99, 10 years in the 00s with 00-09, then 5 so far in the the 2010s with 10-14. 38 years total even though joe said it was the 37th annual it was the 38th.

Matt koerner ran it one year I believe to keep it going it sounded like. Heard there were a couple bad turnouts which this year was nothing to write home about either but it was a great group.

Another question (that I probably don't want to tackle) is how many of these move between cities (state championships, etc.)? Or how many have always been on the same course? For instance, I know the Des Moines Open has always been in Des Moines or a suburb, but has been on many different courses.

Though I said "annual" above, some of these that don't use "annual" in their names -- maybe they haven't been continuous. Not sure I really care.

I wonder if there are any others like the Kenwood Klassic that are held on a temp course where targets ranged from all objects to at least some over the years.

The kenwood klassic is one of those tourneys that any disc golfer who takes the game somewhat seriously needs to play, especially younger players. I say that because this is what the game was about in the beginning, before baskets, before 12 speed drivers or even golf discs. You can go and play this layout anytime. Taped trees, telephone poles, street signs and firehydrants. It's awesome that the kenwood klassic has not drifted off to doing baskets after these years, I actually wish all were non basket targets but I'm biased.

Does BG Ams count? It started in 1978 as the Bowling Green Open, and split the Ams off from the Pros eventually, but has been an annual event now for 37 years running.

Disc Golf Tournament

Welcome to one of the oldest consecutive running disc golf tournaments in the country. Since 1980, each year this event has run with the winners name engraved on a traveling trophy they keep and bring back to defend the following year. This years open will be held rain or shine Saturday, September 20th, 2014 on the grounds of the Conrad Weiser Historical Park in Womelsdorf, Pa. This course is only set up each year for this event! Also next sunday the 29th annual Indiana Fall Series will begin with the first event at Hidden Lake Park in Merrillville. I'm told this is the longest running series in the country.
