New Universal Disc Flight Rating System & Graphic Flight Charts

Just used the charts to figure out which High Speed drivers to try out that compliments my existing bag. And the winning candidates are: Westside Sword and Discraft SurgeSS. These will be the first 2 > 1.9 CM rim width discs I will try flinging in 2 years.

Thanks inbounds for helping me narrow down the choices.

:) Happy to help! Oh, and by the way...

inFlight Guide Data Updated!

The inFlight Guide includes these recent updates:

  • Multiple data sources were recently updated so flight data for several discs has been revised accordingly (with some movement in the longest potential throwers).
  • PDGA Specs added for all discs approved between the July and September updates.
  • Baseline data added for the latest Westside discs: Stag, Tursas, and Underwold (viewable here: http://bit.ly/QSSL9G). As more data becomes available for these three new discs (and all others), it is entirely possible that their flight paths will change over time.
The inFlight Guide is a fluid tool that is constantly being fine-tuned as new data emerges. The evolving nature of our disc flight paths ensures that you are being provided with the most up-to-date and accurate disc flight information possible!

Keep up the good work. My friends and I have learned quite a bit perusing the site.

Thanks! We appreciate the feedback. Stay tuned in the next few weeks for some additional site features and another disc flight resource!

I like the flight charts...wish there was something as clear when I started playing.

Wacky idea...it might be nice to have flight charts on little stickers. For those of us casual players with very short memories or gads of discs a sticker on the bottom of the disc would be useful.

We've toyed with the idea of printing 11x17 posters of individual disc flight charts, but we questioned whether anybody would be willing to spend $7 on it so we didn't put the time into fully developing the idea or product line. If anybody wants to prove us wrong, please let us know!

Disc stickers would be neat. Without having a full print shop in house, we'd have to do it on the cheap and print them on Avery labels. Whenever we set out to do something, we're looking to produce the highest quality product. Something tells me that disc flight charts on mailing labels would go against that philosophy. It's still an interesting idea that we can mull over. As a thank you for the suggestion, PM us your address and we'll send some inbounds Disc Golf stickers your way.

For everybody else, there are always these: http://nvy.gd/R3VMmX :)

The labels are a great idea. However, stickering a disc is a PDGA no-no. :\

However however, nobody really cares.

Really liking the utility of the flight chart database. Just out of curiosity I typed in the new Crosslap "lucky" and bingo, there it was. Same for the upcoming Westside tursa. Pretty cool!

Any thought toward including PDGA disc specs (like on sites like Disc Nation)? Not sure if everyone would want that, but sometimes it's good to know the wing width, and rim depth.

We like to stay on top of things as much as possible and get discs listed as soon as we can. The only caveat to putting the discs up so early is that the sources of data are usually limited to the manufacturer, so field data from field tested results won't be available for a few weeks/months. At which point the flight numbers typically change to a certain extent.

For the PDGA values, if you click on the ↗ for any of the discs that are PDGA approved (displaying the
PDGAicon.png
icon, you should be able to view all the PDGA specs associated with that disc.

Fourth flight chart added!

We did some renovations, moved a few things around, and we were able to add a fourth flight chart to the inFlight Guide! Just like that, we're 33% more awesome!

New Disc Added!

Baseline flight data for the new MVP Volt has been added to the inFlight Guide and is available here:

http://bit.ly/TzXi3q

As a reminder, the flight data in the inFlight Guide comes from a variety of sources. As additional flight data becomes available, it is possible that these flight values may change (e.g. get fine tuned) over time.

We hope everybody survived Sandy and is safe. For everyone that still has access to the interwebz and would like a little more insight into inbounds Disc Golf, take a look at this article from the folks at Rattling Chains. It paints a pretty clear picture of our company:

I actually watched this video last night and saw the ad. Very nice publicity for you. And, as always, nice video.

I just wish that they had better quality for the 2007 WV Open that they covered. It was on the Paw Paw, WV courses, Whippin' Post and Woodshed. I'd love to see some high quality footage from there.

More Discs Added!

Throwback Wednesday! Four "new" discs added! We recently found flight data for 4 OOP discs: Innova Mirage, Discraft MRX, Discraft X2, and Discraft Xtra.

So if you found one of these on the course or in the closet, here's an idea of how they might fly: http://bit.ly/SMHUM9
