The PDGA has more than just the course to consider when awarding NT status to a tournament.
At least as important as the course(s) is raising prize money, recruiting volunteers, and providing amenities like parking, restrooms, and housing for players, volunteers, and spectators.

Lets say you think / everyone thinks that ABC Disc golf course is the best course in the world. Every pro loves it.
No one at the ABC disc golf course has run a PDGA event besides a local C tier and has no financial commitment. So you are saying that ABC disc golf course should host an NT event because it's awesome and ignore everything else?
Quality courses are important. No discussion needed. However, it's simply one of many measuring sticks the PDGA uses to determine which events are what.
Cell signal is also important for the live streams. Some of the best courses are in the middle of nowhere.
...And last but not least, I'd be willing to venture that the number of qualified bids from clubs who were willing to host the final NT event of the year in late September (instead of during the summer months when things are infinitely more convenient for local volunteers and their families) were probably the Music City Golf Club …and maybe a scattered few other clubs. Who knows, there may have been literally ZERO other clubs willing to host this event this weekend.
So was McBeth complaining that Cedar Hills was too easy? Not exactly shredding the course today...
The comment seemed to be pointing out the fact that, in spite of a mediocre tour layout, a draw would be the social scene. Smuggler's Notch and the Bay Area may also have appealing social scenes - but the fact that the players go to those events doesn't mean they take advantage of the social scenes. They can afford Smuggler's Notch and the Bay Area...
Zach Arlinghaus with a -6 1041 and is tied for 8th...
I vaguely remember when i was still able to beat that kid in Rec 5 or 6 years ago when he was in Jr High, LOL... :|
Old school courses like this work against top tier players like Paul. It removes the big distance edge, and rewards local players that have learned the local lines. So from Paul's perspective, he is showing up to an unglamorous location for less pay and the possibility of getting shown up. I understand his gripe.
Paul had to eat this one!!
