I would rather play the higher-quality course because I assume this hypothetical course is not the only course on earth. I could always go somewhere else to throw farther.
If it were to be the only course I could play then I would have to think much harder about the problem.
I'm not sure that jump rope will do much for your quickness, but I absolutely guarantee that it will be great for cardio and endurance if you do it seriously. If you are out of shape then jumping rope will straight up stomp your ass. If I decided I wanted to start playing several rounds every...
The "closest" putter I know of is the lat64 spike. It's nowhere near the same feel as a gateway mid, but it's less extremely different than something like an aviar.
There's already lots of good advice in this thread, but I might as well be one more data point for you to consider. I am convinced that the gateway magic is the ultimate disc for lower level players, myself included.
I bought an unreasonably large collection of discs when I started last spring. What I learned from the experience is that gateway putters are awesome and high speed drivers can suck it. If you can't kick ass with a magic (or aviar, which is also great) you sure as hell aren't going to do well...
The only times I don't use a normal putter for a putt/approach is when it has to come down steep and there is a big risk for a roll-away, in which case I throw a floppy soft vibram something. This would be a very rare thing except that it's good for the little course in town.
I've head of...
I have one summer's worth of disc golf experience. I have an embarrassingly large collection of putters. I throw my gateway magic and wizard for like 19 out of 20 throws while the rest stay at home. If I had to chose one it would be the magic. If I were to introduce a friend to disc golf I would...
I don't do facebook. My skill level is "low", if that's relevant to your data collection.
Drivers: Innova Dx. Somehow it feels irrationally more "correct" than pricier plastics.
Mids: Westside's "tournament" plastic
Putters: Gateway's normal blends. If I could get my favorite molds in KC pro...
I've played for one summer now. So far I've lost 6 discs. Two went in the same pond on the same day, two were lost because I can't see yellow discs, one roc I simply forgot to pick up, and the other roc was a victim of dark sorcery.
Losses don't bother me. It's all part of the game.
