Solid 18(36 w/ alts) Hole Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 1, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good and solid course. 18 holes of fronts (Green) and backs (Red). All tees have markers w/ distance. Information board near practice tee and hole 1. Varied skill shots required (severe hyzer, backhand, finesse, etc.) Has numerous benches and trashcans on course. Good parking lot with gas station located across street. Surrounded by tall pine trees on three sides-helps dissipate those strong Houston winds. Trees and obstacles well maintained by Parks Department. Baskets are in ok shape with varying heights.

Cons:

Tee boxes need work. Looks look they were fixed with gravel a while ago but has dissipated since. Course is included in Public Park with playground, pool and basketball court. Weekenders trash park and don't pick up after themselves. Watch out for people walking their dogs. I have a dog chase after and take a disc (happened twice) Part of the back nine backs up to Beltway 8/Sam Houston Toll road and can get a little loud.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, a good course to play on a sunny afternoon. (Watch tee shot on 18 with a strong head wind---Good luck!!!) Make sure your car is locked and no valuables left in plain view. Heard about break ins happening in the parking lot.

Air conditioning would be nice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Conveniently located on the NW side of Houston. This course would be great for beginners as each hole usually involves an open drive with a few tree obstacles around each basket and not many places to lose discs. It also has a handful of ace-able holes.

Cons:

Houston is hot. I played on a very dry day so I didn't see any of the water issues that some of the other reviewers talked about. It was just a bit dusty.

Other Thoughts:

This course is one that will make you like disc golf more whether you are a beginner or someone who has been playing a while. It is challenging without being really difficult. It would be better, however, if the course was air conditioned.

Agnes Moffitt Park 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 13, 2005 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course is located on the westside of Houston in a flat park with clumps of trees scattered throughout the course. It is located by basketballs courts with several kids around usually playing pick-up games. The course has multiple tee pads and signs (green and red) for regualr and alt shots. The course is fairly wide open for the most part with the back getting longer and more technical. The course can be challenging at times but is fairly easy as a whole. It provides a lot of opportunities for long accurate drives and tight technical upshots. The course provides several birdie chances but if not careful bogies.

Cons:

The poor drainage and length of grass can be a problem at times. Vandalism to the local park and garbage can be seen even though the park and rec does an amazing job providing garbage cans around the course.

Other Thoughts:

Agnes Moffitt Park DG course is a great course for a quick round or for beginners. It is laid back and allows for players of all skills to not lose discs. The course is great for families, where you can have a BBQ or picnic, relax, and play a round.

Chill & Convenient 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 9, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice variety of fairly interesting holes, all with alternate tees. Convenient location close to west side of town makes it easy to get to. Patches of thick woods, scattered trees, and open areas mindle well for a variety of holes and challenges. really fun course for a laid-back game. More variety than Macgregor, though almost as happy (discs don't get eaten by the course). In dry conditions, this is the course to go to for a chill game.

Benches on several holes are perfect for taking a break shooting the breeze.

Cons:

Tends to get really soggy, and stay that way for awhile. When its dry, it would be great, fun, laid back.

Like most Houston Courses, Moffitt is very flat, so if you are looking for hills, look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts:

The best course for a recreational, laid back game without fear of losing your discs. challenging at points without being difficult or overly technical

A Houston Staple 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 21, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Main (green) and Alt (red) tees are well marked with painted wooden posts. Signs specifically restricting picnicers and pedestrians keep the course less cluttered for golfers. Well defined tee boxes. Baskets in good condition. Concrete tees installed in 2012 make this course much more playable.

Cons:

Course navigation can be a challenge for newcomers with out a map. Nothing too bad, but flow from one hole to the next isn't always obvious. Course does not drain exceptionally well after heavy rain. Puddles and pool are common in the Winter.

Other Thoughts:

Ample parking. Not the most challenging course, but a very good one for those learning to play as there are not many opportunities to lose a disc. This is probably the most popular/played course in the Houston area. There's a well attended league run by www.HFDS.org

Nice course - but ... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 14, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Open course with holes nicely positioned around and through trees. The park is clean and the other players were helpful navigating holes.

Cons:

The course has a lot of standing water right now so you were always fishing good throws out of very large puddles. Hard to find the next tee box and understand the next basket you should be playing to.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, I liked the course and would like it even more if it was dryer. Worth the trip after the course dries out.
