Pros:
Good use of limited land available. 9 baskets, but 2 teepads per basket for a full 18 course. It's not just "long" and "short" versions of the same hole either--the different placement of the teepads give each "hole" it's own lines and look, with a nice variety of shots to challenge all levels.
Usually not that crowded, and with the exception of holes 3 and 12, well removed from the other use areas of the park.
Tall pine trees are challenging obstacles but with very few low, grabby branches, so if you hit your line you will be rewarded.
Pretty flat, good for carts. A small creek running through the course has wood pallet crosswalks to keep things accessible.
Nice benches on many of the holes.
Cons:
Ignore the distance/par on the tee-signs, as they're mostly outdated or just flat wrong. This is a Par 54 or 56 course, with only holes 13 (approx. 520 ft) and 18 (approx 600 ft) approaching the Par 4 level. (Our local clubs always play it as par 54 for simplicity.)
Navigation can be confusing if you're not familiar with the 2-tees/1-basket layout. Print out the DCGR course map or take a local with you and you should have no problem.
The walk from Hole 2/11 to Hole 3/12 is a long one, clear across the park to the restrooms/softball field. Also, if a ball game is going on, crowds sometimes encroach on the hole 3/12 tees. However, I've never had any trouble asking for a little room to take my shot.
The tees 4/13 along the power line ally were taken out when work was being done there. Literally picked up, moved to the sides, then moved back. 4's tee is in rough shape, but you can tee off from the ground beside it. Also, this area gets really sticky-muddy after a rain.
A little more trash than other courses in the area, sadly. Lack of trash cans around the course exacerbates this.
